I call bullshit. If this is how the rank and file of the 82nd Airborne is made up these days, then we are fucked. Hopefully they are just the young end of them. Neither appears to have much presence and demeanor that most 82nd ones do, they tend to project a bit more image than these 2 Gen X pussy's. And you know somebody in the unit is hitting that.
It's a very enlightening read, from a journalist who is also a vet, and went through four years of hormone treatments. He's pissed because:
- hormones fucked with his mood (no shit, welcome to being a woman)
- hormone treatment didn't cure his gender dysmorphia, it just stopped him from believing he was a woman. (Huh?!?)
- he only has small tits, and looks like an obese middle-aged man, instead of ... the 'stereotypical female' (?!?) he imagined hormone replacement would transform him into.

- he read the data that sex reassignment surgery doesn't cure gender dysmorphia
- he saw the results in patients who had passed puberty before starting hormone treatment
- he read the suicide rates and case studies of complications, and...
- his hormone treatments probably lessened his sex drive, which ultimately lessened his sexual obsession with seeing himself as female...something reported by some older transsexuals who go on hormone replacement therapy.
It lends credence to the not-socially-acceptable theory that MtF transsexuals are more likely to get off on transforming into women: remove the arousal associated with it, remove the urgency to go on hormones/cut a dick off.
Amazing Desmond and Jazz Jennings are more likely just child abuse victims of mothers who love attention, hate their sons and want to control them. But who knows.

I part ways where the author seems to be advocating hormone treatments begin before puberty. But the rest I believe is spot on.
The problem is that not only do kids grow out of dressing inappropriately for their culture -- dressing inappropriately is strictly cultural in the first place. Forcing 3 year olds to choose to be transsexual just because they put a tiara on is the exact opposite of dissembling gender roles. What could possibly be the purpose of strictly straitjacketing children into traditional gender roles?
Ezra Miller, Billy Porter and Yannis Marshall can all be men without cutting their dicks off for dressing like women.
