Took the OL to Aruba. First time for both of us. If you like sun, 85 degrees and a nonstop 15-20 mph breeze, Aruba is the place

More North shore.

One thing Aruba is not, is lush. Very barren.

Arikok National Park. This place is the cactus capital of the world. The entire island is covered in them, except the north shore which is pretty much just rocks and sand.

Did you find that girl the vanished years ago? Your PET sure makes the place look bleak. A bit different than the advertising I see on TV.

Sweet. Looks like the beach from the episode of Farscape where John married a Princess.

Thank you for the PET. Hope you both had a great time, and avoided the Wu flu.

Like the real Hawaii? I loved the photos. Are the cactus native or imports? I didn't know Aruba had a cave system. How deep did you enter?

It does resemble Hawaii’s dry side. The difference is Aruba has no wet side. It’s got a dry side and a really fukking dry side.

That cave goes back a few hundred feet. Actually, it goes further, but it was blocked off.

Don’t know if the Cacti are native. I do know that there are millions of them. Not much else grows there.

Pet Sematary.

Creepy as fukk. It went on for maybe a mile. Thousands of crosses. Didn't see any Stars of David or Crescents.

This character was shaking down tourists in the parking lot at Hooiberg. Looks like he’s got a little Husky in his bloodline. WTF is a husky doing that far south. Vacation maybe?

This is on the eastern shore.

If there is one place on the planet where they actually could go to 100% or close, renewables, this is it. The wind never fukking stops. They have no need for heating buildings and not a whole lot for cooling either. And being a small, mostly flat island, EVs make sense here.

I saw an article on some hippie renewable sight saying Aruba was going full renewable by 2020. It was written in 2012. Of course, they haven’t done shit since then.

They have 10 of these big pinwheels. No reason they couldn’t have 100.

Any of you fukking hippies that like to go barefoot, I recommend you bring decent footwear. Every-fukking-thing on this island has thorns. Nasty, inch long ones. This is a NB running shoe with a sole that is roughly an inch thick. The fukking thinks were stabbing me right through it.

Our hotel had bikes you could borrow to ride around. We did. 2 of 3 days we came back with flat tires, likely from riding across grass between the road and walk path.

Rack the PET and your vacation.

Only time I was there was when we took my in-laws on a Panama Canal Cruise. We spent maybe 8 hours “on” Aruba. The wife and I took and Uber to a beach club and spent the day relaxing. This would be the only few pics.

That white ship was the Scientology cult boat.

Anywho, your Aruba seems way better than what I saw.

This was done at the southern tip of the island. Mikes and miles of nothing but cacti.

If you have a day to blow in Aruba, your best bet is to rent a car, drive up to the north shore which is very barren rocky and just looks like the moon. Then a drive/hike through Arikok NP. The beach in the high rise hotel area is nice, but no diffferent from any other nice beach. I much prefer the more rugged coastline.
