Do we really need to build more hospitals?

Some politicians seem to think we don't have enough hospital beds for Coronapocalypse. At the same time we are also talking about how the hospitality industry is being devastated.
Uhhhh, has anyone ever considered that hotels and hospitals are actually sorta similar?
When this sort of thing hits, it wouldn't be that difficult to turn hotels into hospitals and then switch them back afterwards.
It would kill 2 birds with one stone and it seems a no brainer, which means government won't do it. They would rather spend hundreds of millions building hospitals that will sit empty most of the time.

Looks like it's already being looked into in NYC.

Maybe they aren't THAT stupid.

I wish I could send our nation's decision makers your posts and threads, and encourage them to do the exact opposite.

Yes.
Let's start planning now.

Do you EVER have anything to add to a discussion?

So, you think we should then?
Of course you do.
It ain't your money.
And it'll be all prevailing wage union contracts.
It won't be done for 18 months, but so long as we are doing something, right, dumbfukk?
There are more than enough hotel rooms that can quickly be adapted to hospital use. One of the NY plans I read said they were looking at getting patients suitable for such a move to hotels, to free up hospital beds for the most seriously ill.
Seems like a good idea.

A NYT story I just read (that is paywalled so I can't share it here) says the are building temporary hospitals on a soccer field in the Seattle metro area. I imagine this is what they are referring to when talking about "building hospitals."
But like the good little Trumpster you are, you don't give a shit about people living or dying, this is all a big hoax, anyway. You're more worried about someone getting paid a union wage rather than saving lives.
Live it up. Hopefully one of your family members will die from this so maybe you'll shut the fuck up about it being all blown out of proportion.

I am just saying that if you are building a temporary hospital and there is an empty Holiday Inn down the street, maybe you should reconsider what you are doing.
Use the existing structures which are perfectly suitable with minor alterations rather than building from scratch. It's the "green" thing to do, afterall.

I believe Cuomo told NYU to be ready to have its dorms used as hospitals.

Juneau got on the radio last week and told us to expect tent cities; if residents see tents, it's normal and just there to deal with triage of patients who need the most urgent care versus those who won't.
In Kotzebue itself, you have to make an appointment for the emergency room. No more hanging out in the clinic to have something to do/for your kid's tummy ache/hangover.

Excellent idea.
Dorms, hotels, pretty damn near any type of building can be transformed into a hospital.

Tent cities with porto potties are nice. The virus will have a buffet line there.

They can be; but that's half the equation.

I can't find the story of the homeless man who escaped quarantine from a converted hotel on the West Coast. If there are no guards, quarantine means jackshit.
Americans will not take forced quarantines seriously. Ever.
