Every once and a while Spielberg gets it right.
Except for the time he tried to do Kubrick.
He fucked up big time with that one.

Kubrick was incredible.

Did you know he married this german chick?

one of the greatest endings to any movie ever...

He proved that we all fight for the same thing...our culture....
our leaders are the ones that should be shot.

Bach and Mozart...both of them great. Can't really choose a favorite, they come from different musical eras, one Baroque and one Classical.

Here's another great Austrian pianist, a little more recent than Mozart.

Same guy, a few years later.

No.
But you left out Beethoven. He belongs with J S Bach and Mozart.
Those 3 are widely acknowledged as the immortals.
And it's not debatable.

This really isn't about classical music...it's about a scene from Schlinder's List.

True true......But great minds can take topics in a myriad of directions, and never ever be boring.

Explain this scene.
- What were the stethoscopes for?
- Why did they let people out of hiding places without confirming the SS were gone?
- Why was the one kid stupid enough to step on the fucking keys in a life or death situation? Why not get out over the side of the upright?
- Why was the one dude playing classical, instead of popular music? Out of personal love and passion, out of patriotism to encourage the soldiers, or out of being an asshole to shit talk the Jews musically? Because a monster's music choices mean something (see Sybil's mother).

- How did the underground railroad ever succeed? It's harder to hide blacks than to hide people who look just like you, speak just like you, act just like you but believe in a different god.

Except it is about music. Bach and Mozart two completely different artists, but the soldiers weren't really sure about whose piece that was, otherwise they would have argued over the name of the piece.

What's that say about the soldiers, themselves?

Anyway, who is the composer, where is the piece from, and what is it's deeper significance?
