I've always loved Motown...it's great music. I didn't know much about Berry Gordy until I watched the "Making Hitsville USA"
documentary the other day. Berry was BRILLIANT! He started out on the assembly line in the automobile industry when he
came up with the idea of making music using the same principles as making a car.
He had somebody finding the talent...somebody writing the songs....somebody teaching eloquence and grace...promotion...
marketing....etc..etc..etc... You should have seen Diana Ross before she was transformed into a princecess.
Also...he tried to keep Motown socially acceptable. He was actually pissed off when Marvin Gaye got political and started writing
about the war and social justice.
All I can say is that if all black dudes were Berry Gordy there wouldn't be any racism in America.
There would be no reason to be racist because people would behave civilizied and intelligently.
Lastly....it was MOTOWN that made Whites support the civil rights movement and desegregation.
If it wasn't for Berry Gordy there would probably still be separate drinking fountains in the south.

Also watched "This is it" about the making of Michael Jacksons last concert....he died two weeks before it started.
It would have been the greatest concert in the history of the world.
