What happened in Oklahoma?

Post by Innocent Bystander »

And why is it presaging a clusterfuck?
Feds and tribal cops have authority, the state, city, county courts have no jurisdiction. City cops, county sheriff, and state police will still be able to arrest crimes in their presence or follow fleeing suspects. Hardly anything changes.
Is this true or false?
"The City of Tulsa, in support of Oklahoma, responds that the Supreme Court’s ruling could place the vast majority of the city under Muscogee (Creek) sovereignty, subjecting its citizens to a new system of laws and practices. Such disruptions, Tulsa argues, would extend into a plethora of areas including taxation and land zoning."

"Kansas and other western states (“Kansas”), in support of Oklahoma, emphasize that these complicated jurisdictional questions could impact tribal-state relations across the United States, not just in one state."
Is this true or false?
The ruling merely states that if you’re a member of a specific tribe then Oklahoma state law does not apply to you in those areas. Federal law is still in effect.
Is this true or false?
how many of these land treaties weren't formally disassembled by congress? Imagine CA losing all congressional seats
Is this true or false?
This isn't about breaking up the United States and the United States losing sovereignty over territory. This is about breaking up the States to further impose "Federal" despotism.
Is this true or false? And finally,
We wont know until it shakes out, but heres the most likely scenario:
People still own their land, they just pay property taxes to the tribe, probably at a lower rate
All state parks in the area become tribal land, probably get over hunted and cut down. /pol/ lols
The tribal police force is now responsible for those new areas, likely local pd will get the option to transfer into the tribal police or transfer to a different department or retire. Good luck getting the funding for enough tribal cops.
Is this true or false? If true, what are the long-term repercussions?

All quotes are from the net equivalent of clones, not legal experts.
Thank you for your time.

They couldn't pick a better time to start in life,
It ain't too early and it ain't too late.
Startin' as a farmer with a brand-new wife
Soon be livin' in a brand-new state!
Brand-new state
Gonna treat you great!
Gonna give you barley,
Carrots and pertaters
Pasture fer the cattle
Spinach and termayters!
Flowers on the prairie where the June bugs zoom
Plen'y of air and plen'y of room
Plen'y of room to swing a rope,
Plen'y of heart and plen'y of hope.
Oklahoma,
Where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain
(And the wavin' wheat
Can sure smell sweet
When the wind comes right behind the rain)
Oklahoma!
Every night my honey lamb and I
Sit alone and talk
And watch a hawk
Makin' lazy circles in the sky.
We know we belong to the land,
And the land we belong to is grand.
And when we say;
Ee-ee-ow! A-yip-i-o-ee-ay!
We're only sayin',
You're doin' fine, Oklahoma!
Oklahoma, O.K.!

This is great news for the aboriginal americans. One down a few to go.

As a native american this doesn't really concern me since I don't live in the midwest. Though I do think it was about time.

No. She was an aboriginal american.

I was just born here. Which makes me a native american.

Guess what, asshole. We took California just like we took Oklahoma. So if they can do it there, they can do it everywhere.

Actually, shouldn't we just say we bought OK fair and square from France as part of the LA purchase? Tell the injuns to take it up with them.

Good to see we are now implementing another piece of the marxist strategy which is get the injuns pissed off about having their land taken.

Only trouble is the "you stole this land" argument applies to every group out there.

There are no aboriginal Americans. Homo sapiens is not an indigenous species to the New World.
