Me?
Peter Jacobsen.....duh.
So what if he's currently sitting +4? He'll win the Colonial.....AGAIN.
Ben Crane will, of course, finish second in a playoff with Jake.
Patrick Sheehan -8 after 13 holes? Sick.

Jake used to play the BC Open, people here love the guy. We have two tables in the Corporate tent between 9 & 18 for my viewing pleasure.
Now, you wanna hear a real fucking tragedy?
We have one of the few "small" (no major sponser) tourstops left. The course they play on is owned by the Village of Endicott and the stupidity of the local politicians is going to cost us this tourniment. They have been losing money for years because of all the cash they've had to put into it to keep it up to PGA standards. This year they decided to put out for bid, a contarct to run the course. They had 3 responses, the local charity that has run The BC Open since existence, Kemper Sports Management and another company out of Virginia. The Virginia company said no thanks, you people are too fucked up. The village idiots in charge couldn't come to an agreement on the other 2, so they bagged the whole thing. 2 weeks later, they annouce that the entered into an agreement with Kemper, a monthg later, they decided to break their agreement because it would cost them too much money. This stupid little bankrupt town is going to cost this area millions of $'s in revenue that the tourniment brings along with the prestige of having the damn tourniment in the first place. All because of the incestious in fighting that is going on between the Mayor & the 6 member board. If it weren't for some killer Italian restaurants, I would never step foot in their lousy village again.
FUCK THEM!!!!

A couplefew of my golfing buds used to take (free) lessons from Jake, when he was the pro at my local course here(which isn't all that cool, really, but it's pretty much the only one in a town of 80,000). Dude's a god here. I'm not sure if people realize he went to high school(and earlier) with Matt Groening. That must have been a party. For a spoiled little rich kid, Jake's cool.
Glad to hear about your loss, Twizzler. One of these days, we'll get our regular PGA stop, which they've been dying to put here. We get plenty of Women's Opens, and were supposed to get a couple of US Opens, but the Tradition went and screwed that up. So, we might just have to take yours.
On a not-particularly related local note --
My golf bud's crusty old Dad(who is like 76 now) volunteered at the local US Open qualifier. Said Casey Martin showed up.....and sucked some very serious ass.

The talk is that it will get moved to Turning Stone Casino, but they don't serve booze there, so I don't know if it is possible to have a golf tourny w/o booze.

Shenendoah (The course at Turning Stone) is supposed to be a killer layout. One of the best of the new "upscale public" courses. If they get this tournament and can somehow move the date off the same week as the British Open, you could be talking about. I know they don't serve booze in the casino, but I would hope they would make an exception for a Tour event..
I feel bad for you guys down in Broome County, but I can't say it breaks my heart to think of a tour event 2 hours down the road from me.

Speaking of new "upscale public" courses with killer layouts..
I found out about a new one today that is being built less than an hours drive away.
7600 yards should be interesting..
Almost as interesting as playing a new links course in 3 weeks time

I'm going to have to change my pick.
DJ Trahan has shown that he has the nad to step it up when the bigboys start gunning for him over the weekend.
Gotta go with DJ.....finishing second to Ben Crane.

Otis' Kenny Perry is looking like the best pick so far....as the Sat. round concludes.
though he just drove it in the trees on 18.

Excellent pick.
I guess if I'm the moderator (along with 3Putt0Post), I suppose I get to make the rules.
And
I say there's nothing wrong with picking the winner after the fact. Sure, Vegas wouldn't go for it -- but this isn't Vegas. I mean, everywhere you go, all these prognostication contests always want you to pick the winner
before the event starts. Well, that just doesn't work for me. When was the last time Peter Jacobsen and Ben Crane finished #1 and #2? Like, never?
So, pending approval from the elusive 3Putt, I say we're all allowed to guess the winner on monday morning.
Why not? Why
shouldn't we all start the workweek on a positive note?
So, with that said, I'm going with Kenny Perry. How about you guys?

Don't think I'm jumping on the bandwagon or anything, I took local boy Patrick Sheehan after the first round.

Who you take after the first round is insignificant in our contest.
The only thing that matters is who you pick sunday night/monday morning.

David Toms to show.
And I'll take Nicklaus in the '77 Masters.
Damn you, Watson.
