modern r&b song needs to die

So I catch some song on the local hit music station and think to myself "although overproduced, I can get into this beat." Then I hear the latest soul lady start her singing/whispering. The entire song is about important shit like ballers, being on the corner, hustlas and other things that seem to dominate this shit culture.

Usually I don't give this shit any mind, but I guess I was just disgusted with the fact that a producer came up with some gold and threw those pearls before hip-hop culture swine.

What the fuck happened? Did NWA turn everyone's attention and the following industry adjustments led to this?

It all starts with MTV. The Buggles knew exactly what they were talking about when they said "Video Killed The Radio Star". Music today is more about "image" than it is about the actual music. Rap, R&B, Hip-Hop and Pop seem most affected. Although it's even affected country music. When will it stop?!!!! Answer: The day we all kill our televisions and not until then.

What passes for R&B these days sucks. The R is usually some pseudo-hiphop crap,

Thank you Funky. Dinsy, it always helps to READ the first post in a thread before you respond.

R&B (or Rap and Bullshit as three brilliant cats from L.I.N.Y. called it) is dead. (If someone tells me again how soulful Joss Stone is, I will punch them in the mouth.) Any good R&B is now classified as "Neo-Soul," much of which sucks too.

I get tired of hearing some no talent bitch like Amerie or Ashanti or any other of those chicks whose real talent was showcased when they sucked the dick of an R&D man at a record label. The genre needs more Lalah Hathaways, Rashaan Patterson and less of the shit that is in heavy rotation on ViacomTV. (BET,MTV and VH1)

It used to be the case that someone had to achieve a measure of fame
BEFORE being able to go by only one name!

The last R&B artist I liked was Alexander O'Neil (but that's going back to the 80s).

I can't stand most R&B anymore. It's the constant up and down shit for one word that drives me crazy. They turn one note into about a thousand, ranging from low to high, back to low, throw in a few quick up & downs, then back to the original note. Grrr.

Pick a fucking note or two and try putting power behind it, not how many notes you can turn that one into - I don't give a shit how good you think your range is.
