LOS ANGELES - An American Airlines pilot reports seeing a mystery person in a jetpack flying high above Los Angeles, right in the path of incoming jets at LAX Sunday evening.

When it comes to accuracy and detail and reliability, you’d probably rank airline pilots right up there. So, when an American Airlines pilot reported via radio to the control tower seeing a "guy in a jetpack" as he was approaching LAX at about 3,000 feet and ten miles out for a landing, you had to give it serious credibility, as unlikely as that may be...

My understanding is that pilots don't report, for fear of being ridiculed. So if they report something, they are 120% sure.

And why couldn't a guy have a jetpack? The only question would be friendly or spy/enemy. The military would follow up, right?

Pilot boards are saying this may have been a drone with a mannequin dressed up. Might have appeared as a jetpack.

Thing is at 3K and on final approach to LAX you don't have much time to turn and focus on shit like that. You prolly do a double take and then get back to planting that bird on the runway.

Whatever it was, the person responsible should do jail time.
