...Terry Fox stopped his run. I was on vacation in the 1000 Islands when the media began to pick up on what Terry Fox was trying to do. By the time we got back to Rochester news had gotten over the border. I remember checking the newspaper to keep up on his run. And then, on Labor Day, in the US, he shut it down on the outskirts of Thunder Bay. He had no choice, the cancer he had beat once was back. Nine months later he was dead.
