The guy was certainly a showman. I can't say I listened to his show since the late 90s or early 2000s.

People either loved or hated the guy, weren't many that were just meh on the guy.

The loan came due.

What he did say regularly is that the dangers of 2rd hand smoke were greatly exaggerated.

My personal take on the topic, is that it is a really shitty habit, but so is sticking your dick in some guy’s ass. And if you want to do either, who am I to get in the way.

Laws that have banned smoking from privately owned, public places are bullshit.

A friend of mine and his dad owned a pool hall. It was a viable business until a smoking ban cut revenues by 50% overnight. The shut it down within 2 years of them ban. And that ban came about 2 years after the state mandated 20k dollars worth of smoke eaters.

I actually admired RBG’s toughness. I think she exhibited extremely poor judgement in not throwing in the towel years earlier when she could assure a like minded replacement.

Of course being a “catholic” doesn’t really make one much of a Christian, necessarily. I’m “catholic” by accident of birth, but haven’t regularly attended any church for decades.

I consider myself a highly doubtful agnostic. But I don’t share the lefties’ hatred for religion. I certainly do see he benefit in having faith.

Is I will agree that there are public places where smoking bans make sense. You shouldn’t be allowed to smoke in a public library. Smoking bans at public sporting events even make sense. Smoking bans in offices make sense. I wish they had them in 1991 when I shared at office with a chain smoking asshat.

But a place like a bar is different. You aren’t required to attend a bar. But the ability to sit in a bar and slowly Jill yourself with Tequila AND cigarettes is a feature that affects the business. Arbitrarily removing that ability has a detrimental effect on said business.

If the government feels strongly enough about it, it ought to buy the fukking joint and implement a smoking ban.

Or here’s an idea....How about leave it up to the proprietor.

I don’t do a lot of pub crawling these days, but if I did and there were two bars in town, one smoking, one not, I’d be in the smoke free one.
