The Big C is a fukking asshole. And I will even route for that cunt over it.
She's lucky to have caught it early, if indeed she has. Wonder if she did one of those elective MRI screens, which is typically how these things are caught early. A good friend of mine's wife died from lung cancer about a year and a half ago after a 9 year battle. When she was diagnosed, she was told she'd likely live 18 months. Imagine getting that news when you have an 8 and 5 year old.
I wish we put more $$$$ into such screening, but i am afraid part of the reason we don't have it is there's big $$$$ in treating advanced cancers.
I was recently reading about a company that does full body MRI scans. I think they get about 2500 a pop. I suspect over time, MRI costs will come down as this procedure gains popularity. Maybe even at some point, insurance companies will subsidize it, knowing they'll get it back in avoiding long costly battles with advanced cancer.
If I had 88 money, I'd probably do one.
BTW, Mrs Smack underwent a biopsy procedure yesterday afternoon. She's had swollen lymph nodes for a few months. Are likely some sort of infection, but you don't fukk around with this stuff. Will get the biopsy findings in a few days. Been a stressful couple of weeks and really does remind you that you can have all the material possessions you could think of, but if you don't have your healf, yer fuct.

I'm pulling for Mrs. Holic to have a negative or benign result. She's already been through enough being married to you.

Has she drank any booze this year? Or coffee? Has she eaten any meat, eggs or tuna? Walked in direct sunlight without sunscreen? Sprayed Roundup? Been in the same room when you farted?smackaholic wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 10:35 amVery early. January. Better check into that because all of these are either known or suspected of having potential harmful health effects.
For many low-information tin-foil hat wearing paranoiacs, correlation is enough to "prove" causation. Thing is, for all of those that I mentioned (except for maybe Roundup...and the Covid vaccine) they've actually shown a connection.
Best be careful. I've heard that drinking orange juice can lead to heroin addiction.
I do hope she's OK, BTW.
Re: Haha. Karma kicks cunt in the tits.
They've been doing full body CTs for quite a while. I had one back in the 80s (I think...my memory loses temporal accuracy at about the 12 hour mark). Insurance won't cover them though.smackaholic wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 2:54 am I was recently reading about a company that does full body MRI scans. I think they get about 2500 a pop. I'm now getting annual chest CTs because of a family history of exploding aortas (father and older sister but died from this). My brother has a condition that can lead to it and will eventually be getting a valve replacement. I've shown no signs but still annual follow-ups. The "nice" thing is that it shows not only if my aorta is getting bigger, but also lesions in lungs or airways, enlarged valves, plaque in the coronary artery or any other crap that can show up in your thoracic area. So I may get cancer from too much X-ray radiation, but at least I'll know about it early.

Re: Haha. Karma kicks cunt in the tits.
Did some reading on CTs screens. Some claim its not worth it because, first off, it's not all that effective at catching things and it's a fairly high dose of radiation. MRI provides a better image with no radiation.Mikey wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 2:23 pmThey've been doing full body CTs for quite a while. I get regular MRIs on the lower half to monitor the PC that was uncovered a couple of years ago. Problem is that the metal hips can get in the way. CTs are a lot faster too.

Re: Haha. Karma kicks cunt in the tits.
Old age does suck, but never achieving it sucks more.
What really sucks is extreme old age.
My Grandfather make it to 95. He did reasonably well until maybe 87-88. Things fell apart pretty badly around that time, aside from his mind which he had till the end. In his last few years he told me more than once, don't hope to live into your 90s. They are teh suck. I agree with him. My plan, or hope anyway, is to have another pretty good 20 years, then maybe 6 or 7 years that don't suck horribly, then have a massive stroke at about 85.
Hopefully, we will get to the point legally when we can chose to punch out with some level of dignity. Just so long as the decision be left to the individual or his appointed rep. For me, it would be my daughter. My wife would be a mess and would do ashitty job of it.

Well, looks like the OL has a bit of Lymphoma.
Going to see doc today. Hopefully very early stage. She should be able to butt-fukk it in the mouf.
Wish us well.
Well, everyone but the midget. Wouldn’t want to see him go out of his way to normalize anything. And that’s fine. She’s already got an awesome support structure around her. She’ll do fine without a sawed off midget’s backing.

Non-Hodgkins?

Not only non-Hodgkins, but a single A Bush league version of it. CLL/SLL.
The doc says very slow growing. Sometimes doesn’t need any treatment at all, possibly low dose rad, oral meds, maybe a little chemo.
Says I’m stuck with her for quite a few more years, which is just fine with me. She’s still easy to look at and somehow tolerates me. Not sure I could find a replacement that would meet those criteria.

Stay positive.
Prognosis is good.
Very slow growing, easily treatable non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
I have always been positive, to a fault perhaps. But I have had a blessed life so I will remain positive.

Hope Mrs Smackaholic is doing well and stays cll inactive.
