The last surviving officer of the 506th Easy Company (later named Band of Brothers in Stephen Ambrose' book of the same name) has died.
He was in all the major battles (DDay, Market Garden, & Bastogne). He took part in the claiming of durr Fuhrer's retreat known as "Eagles Nest." While there he found & kept some cognac that were labeded as being for Hitler's use only. After the war was over he popped a bottle to celebrate his oldest son's bar mitzvah.
He was from an era when we fought Nutsies, not embraced & elected them.
RIP Ed Shames

Way to prove your idiocy once again. NOLA has a ton of reasons to visit and has some of the best foods in the world in a small footprint. There is also a ton of history and wildlife.

And the next time you go to New Orleans, go to the National WWII Museum.
