CDMX and central Mexico PET

Post by Left Seater »

So I had a contract to fly around in Central Mexico for a few weeks and Mrs Seater came down a couple of time to visit.

First off was Mexico City

Crickets are a thing to eat there.

European influence is/was high in CDMX
Image

The floating barges where you eat and drink were surprising and fun. Vendors float up to you and sell you things.

Volcano venting a bit near Puebla.

Lots of churches in the Puebla area and some date to the 1400’s.

Smog is always a thing.

I was also in Puebla for a good bit. Again lots of churches.

We also went to some of the ruins that are pre-Hispanic in the Oaxaca area.

At the end of this trip, I ended in Juarez and entered the US by Uber and didn’t have to take a Covid test. I then flew home from El Paso on American. Had I flown home on a flight that crossword the border, I would have had to show a negative Covid test. Apparently Covid can’t be transmitted in an Uber or a car going cross border but can in a plane.

Anywho, Central Mexico is a great place. Amazing people and food and safe. It really should be on your travel list.

Mexico City and Athens, Greece are both considered shitholes.

I confirm Athens.

Thanks for confirming Mexico City.

Thanks for the PET. Still another area I have no desire to visit.

No more so than LA or San Fran or NYC or Chicago or…

Give me Mexico City over most of those.

Most racists like you do indeed consider CDMX, the largest city in the western hemisphere, a shithole. All those 11 million people who live in the metro area are clearly inferior to you, a pedophile exiled from the US. Bra-vo.

Cool photos, Lefty. CDMX is a great city and I would have an even better time if I returned as the first time I went in 2017 was my first trip "abroad" by myself. Xochimilco (the floating barges) is pretty cool and would be a blast with a group of friends. I went by myself in the afternoon on a Friday and was kind of freaked out. Didn't know about the crickets. You can find some crazy shit in their markets, but I didn't know crickets were a delicacy there.

Tech-challenged Duhron would love CDMX because he could buy bootleg porn on DVD for pennies on the dollar.

Heard some good things about Pueblo, a friend went there and raved about it.

One of the hottest women I've ever seen was working in a tattoo parlor near where Cruz Azul used to play. Almost inspired me to get my first tattoo. Alas...

The combo of altitude and smog in CDMX is a big problem. I remember walking around near their double decker expressways and getting winded because of the altitude and car exhaust. Really gross.

But CDMX is a great time. Incredibly affordable and the variety of food is amazing. Saw Pumas and Cruz Azul when I was there and would love to return to see Club America or perhaps the World Cup.

Look. Mexico deserves much of their reputation. Whole states are a no go area for Americans due to the drug violence and kidnapping. But much of that is driven by American drug consumption. Those of you who smoke pot are contributing to the problems there in a small way.

Take for example the shootout at the Hyatt Ziva earlier this year. Two different American couples were asking around for drugs. Hotel employees knew “a guy” and calls were made. One call went to a gang member from Cartel A, while the call for the other couple went to a member of Cartel B. Both dealers happened to arrive around the same time and saw each other. They called for help and Cartel B was faster to arrive and when Cartel member B ran for his life a gun battle followed and he was killed.

But this shootout doesn’t happen without American tourists looking for drugs.

That said much of the country is very safe and quite friendly. CDMX is way cleaner than SFO or NYC for example.

And Screwy is correct the food scene in CDMX is amazing. You can get World Class meals for less than $100 per person with drinks or wine. Same meals in the US would be $400 or more per person.

Buying drugs, or anything illegal, in a foreign country is just dumb and you're just inviting the hammer to drop one way or the other.

If you're buying legal weed in the US, that has nothing at all to do with drug violence in Mexico. In fact, the more it becomes legal and controlled the less will be imported. Fentanyl, meth and other shit that's illegally imported is another story.

Another big driver of drug violence in Mexico is American made guns being smuggled in the other direction.

Weed is still being smuggled across the border in large quantities.

You can tell yourself otherwise if it makes you feel better.

I read it. I comprehended it as well. You on the other hand made an assumption.

Weed grown in the US is increasing being smuggled from the US into Mexico. The drug cartels that don’t control weed growing areas in Mexico are distributing US grown weed. This is leading to violence across these cartels.

So yes, while you aren’t breaking any laws you are contributing to the violence.

Nobody cares. MJ has been consumed around the world since the dawn of time. It's only a recent phenomenon that the US decided to criminalize it, which it did 100 years ago because undesired Orientals were smoking it.

Don't you ever forget this--USG policy, specifically from Congress, is responsible for cartel violence in Mexico over MJ consumption in the US. Not individual users. Time to get your facts straight, for once.

I always laff when I hear about Americans buying drugs in Mexico. Why would you intentionally break the law in a foreign country where you have no legal rights? Is it really any easier than finding it in the US? Americans are beyond stupid.

Keep kicking your own ass. (Probably a result of all that weed you use.)

No one is arguing weed is illegal in Mexico. The point is it is leading to violence. But since we aren’t talking about illegal immigrants from Mexico, you don’t care about them.

I will agree with you partially here.

The "war" on drugs, or, well, pretty much any "war" on a substance is a really, really, really bad idea. Limiting people's choices to do whatever moronic thing they want to do to their own bodies is a bad idea.

Fully legalize every last fukking bit of it. Put a reasonable level of taxation and regulation in place and see what happens. Some people will continue to make poor decisions, but fewer people innocents will die in the crossfire. Also, fewer idiots who just want a nice little heroin trip will end up dead because they unknowingly took enough chinese fentanyl to kill 1000 junkies.

You were doing so well, till you had to go to your utopian hippy faggot side.

The violence has nothing to do with "American" guns. It has to do with the fact that some ruthless hombres see an opportunity to make $$$$$ by controlling an industry. If there were no American guns available, they would and I am sure do, use Chinese, Russian, Czech, where ever the fukk, made guns.

You fukking libs like to pretend that a semi-auto firearm is some space age gadget that can only be made by ginormous evil gun makers.

They aren't.

It is late 19th century tech. If we had some ability to ban the legit manufacture of these things, do you think they wouldn't buy a lathe, a bridgeport and a few other gadgets and start churning out guns themselves?

You admit that banning one substance (illegal drugs) is a bad idea, because the trade will exist anyway. Do you think weaponry is any different?

Is there a city on the planet that doesn't have a shithole section?

Maybe a few Scandanavian or German cities?

Maybe a few small American/Canuck cities?
