first-year eligibles for the HOF:

Mike Vernon, John Vanbiesbrouck, Gary Suter, Kevin Stevens. Rick Tocchet, Pat Verbeek, Stephane Richer, Ray Ferraro, Bob Probert, Dave Manson, Benoit Hogue, Dmitri Khristich, Michel Petit and Joe Reekie.

Good lord! Does that list ever suck! Probert?

Vernon will eventually go. The rest...we'll see.

Michel Petit...can you go into the Hall if you played for every team?

Vernon is probably the best player out of the group. Vanbiesbrouck is only 11 wins behind Vernon but I give Vernie the edge because he's got rings with 2 teams. Verbeek at 522 goals has a good shot. 500 seems to be the magic number. Tocchet at 440 goals and 2970 PIMs is a longshot. I don't like the chances on any of the defensemen. Suter had 845 points...he's probably the only one I'd make an argument for. I have to agree though, a bad crop of players overall.

Point leaders among this group:
Verbeek.....1063
Tocchet.....952
Ferraro.....898
Hogue.....877
Suter.....845
Richer.....819
Stevens.....726
Khristich.....597
Manson.....390
Probert.....384
Petit.....328
Reekie.....164

Just curious, if the lockout lasts 5 years, does that make everyone eligible for the Hall?

There's going to be a great group leaving within a few years...Yzerman, Hull, Messier, Francis, Chelios. Hopefully they don't all retire at once...need to spread out that greatness so each guy gets their proper respect.

Dmitri Khristich?!? Only if its for the floater hall of fame.

Glenn Anderson (6 cups, 498 goals, one of the fastest players of his era) , Dino Ciccerelli (660 goals, superpest as well) , Rogie Vachon (355 wins) and Andy Moog (372 wins) should be already in.

Only one out of the 2005 nominees that should get in on their first year is Vernon for his 2 Cups.

Dino and Anderson should be in for sure.

The only two that might be HOF material are Suter and Vernon. I repeat 'might'. Who in the bloddy blue hell is Joe Reekie?

Dave Manson?
