Pink Floyd performing for Live 8?
Sunday, May 22 2005, 12:28 BST -- by Daniel Kilkelly
Pink Floyd are planning to reunite and perform at the upcoming Live 8 concert, the Sunday Mirror claims today.
Sir Bob Geldof, who is organising the event, is in talks with the group to perform at the 20th anniversary gig on July 2nd.
Acts such as U2 and Sir Paul McCartney have already signed up for the event.
Pink Floyd have not performed together since the mid-1980s, due a feud between Roger Waters and the rest of the band.
A source explained, "There have been a whole series of calls. Sir Bob is hopeful we can make this happen."

Since the author doesn't even realize that Pink Floyd performed all through the 80's, and into the 90's, albeit without Waters -- are you really inclined to believe one thing that comes out of his yap?
I'd go see them if they toured, I guess, but probably just for nostalgia's sake.
And before you even try and start with me, Shoalzie, what you were about to say is apples and oranges. See, it would be nostalgia for ME to see Their Royal Floydness, since I saw them in 1987(unless that was a hallucination brought on by all the drugs). It'd be a trip down memory lane. Whereas, if some 21 year old wannabe saw them for the sake of posterity, it would be quite gay.
See the difference?

Not bloody likely. I suspect that Waters might be tempted to rejoin the fold for a 1 time gig. But I have a hard time seeing Gilmour agreeing to a reunion that would only serve to completely devalue any future Pink Floyd efforts minus Waters. Here's what Nick Mason had to say last October about the near constant Floyd reunion rumors.

That article forgets one factor -- the unadulterated greed that consumes both parties. Once a promotor shows them some bottom-line, they'll forget all about past differences.
We're dealing with Roger "Moneybags" Waters -- the guy who sought financial compensation for the flying pig and the concept of using lasers during a concert.
"Hey Roger, would you be interested in doing a reunion show with Gilmour?"
"No way in hell."
"We'll give you $200."
"Where do I sign?"

this one time... until Roger has a solo album coming out that he wants to promote again.
Roger: I planned on playing a couple songs from The Final Cut at this reunion show.
Nick and David: No.
Roger: Really?
Audience: Please no.

You don't think this is the first time someone has offered scads of money to entice a Floyd reunion? Do you?
Say it with me. The only way Pink Floyd gets back together is if Waters is given a fucking full frontal shut the fuckuptomy. That is the only way to guarantee the group stays together long enough to make the kind of money said reunion would make.
