Dude in the hat rushes up on the guy with long hair and then assaults him, by all rights the dude in the hat deserved to die. Luckily for the guy in the hat the guy with the long hair is a felon and can't arm himself, had it been me he would have been shot and it would have been legal. Then I would have sued him or his next of kin for assault. Hopefully dude with the long hair sues the fuck out of the guy in the hat once dude in the hat gets out of the hospital.

Too bad this happened in Torrance and not Chicago, in Chicago it would just be called "mutual combat"

Criminal or not, you dont get to lay hands on someone else and the guy in the hat deserved whatever happened to him for doing so. The more people who are killed for assaulting people, the fewer assaults there will be.
