ADAware vs. Microsoft AntiSpyware

I gave up AdAware for The MS version of Anti Spyware.

Recent scans by the MS version have detected nothing to get rid of.

I call Bullshit.

AdAware used to find stuff daily.

Any thoughts on this are appreciated.

Sincerely,

Computer blonde Stiletto

the MS spyware remover is actually another program called Giant Anti-spyware remover.
http://www.giantcompany.com/

it's a pretty good spyware remover that I've been using for almost a year and haven't had any problems with it.
however it misses things that Adaware catches and vice versa.

my personal reccomendation is that you use as many as it takes to catch everything.
I use between 4-5 at any one time and all of them catch things the others miss.
Spybot,Spysweeper,Spyware Blaster,Adaware and Giant are the ones I'm using now and they pretty much keep me clean.
if you need help finding them, you know where to find me heels;)

A lot of good stuff here:

Possibly the best like dit says is the formally Giant, now Microsoft Anti-spyware Beta (also free):

The best thing you can do is dump anything from lavasoft as they've started accepting bribes from sptware manufacturers:

Several anti-spyware firms, including Aluria, Lavasoft and PestPatrol, have quietly stopped detecting adware from companies like Claria and WhenU – a process called delisting. Those adware companies have been petitioning anti-spyware firms to delist their software; other companies have resorted to sending cease-and-desist letters that threaten legal action.

as soon as ONE program is made that catches everything I'll stop using right around five of them.
until then I'll use Adaware to catch the things other removers don't.
I'll also use others to get the things Adaware doesn't.
Spybot also had some silly shit going on with a version last year.
didn't stop me from using it.

DiT,

You know I trust you, but what about the Penguin's response?

Any truth in the link he sent?

Sincerely,

Sure there's some truth in it, that's why diT stated he uses up to 5 different spyware scanners if he thinks there might be a problem. I use 3, spybot, adaware, MS beta, along with the firefox browser and haven't had any problems.

Dit was saying earlier about companies like Spybot.

Crapita. There’s another one. Dreadful.

Alluria. Awful.

Delindex? Pure shiny shyte.

Well I could go on, but as one final example: LAVASOFT.

Slow, barely working at times, ignores spyware, still working the same as ages ago and sinking under the weight of tasteless advertisers that sell useless rubbish that nobody wants..

Utter rubbish Lavasoft! Boooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Proper socialist enterprise like Linux is more efficient than other systems because it’s planned, the actual users are involved rather than exploited and the system is geared to NEED rather than generating profit. Capitalism is HOLDING BACK the human race!

Heels,

Go with what DiT said. Get all of the 4-5 decent free programs available, and no one will see your computer bare foot...

Unless you want them to. :)

Heels, are you really being bombarded with spyware?

Here's my basic scenario:

router
ZoneAlarm Pro
Firefox (with the AdBlock extension)

I don't even scan for spyware any longer.
