Eight straight titles…amazing. Eleven in thirteen years.

Plus two NCAA titles and Olympic gold.

RIP. One of the best. If playing 2 on 2, I'd still pick Wilt on my team.

Besides being 7’1” Wilt was an incredible athlete. In this picture almost his entire arm is above the rim.

Yep. I’d put John Wooden in a close second place.

I think there might be a greater soccer winner(s), but I am not sure.

Maybe someone who follows the sport much closer than I do can chime IN on that.

That would be Dani Alves.

While basketball is a Canadian creation, I've always thought it was shit and know nothing of it. Never heard of Bill Russell. Probably from British Columbia. Anyway, I suppose this is a great day for the nation and it's legacy, hooray for the Dominion and Bill Russell.

Nor am I, but I seriously doubt it. From 1955-1969, Russell led a college team that hadn't done shit before and hasn't done shit since to two NCAA titles, won an Olympic gold medal, had a 13-yr pro career in which his team didn't play in the NBA finals only once, and won 11 championships. Henri Richard was on teams that won 11 Stanley Cups but did it over 20 yrs and isn't even considered the best hockey player in his family. Russell can't be touched as far as being the greatest player by the numbers in major team sports.

He definitely woulda won more Olympic gold if pros had been allowed to play back then, was getting the best of who many consider, and rightly so, the best pure athlete and dominant force among centers all time (Chamberlain), and was winning championships for a team whose fans broke into his house and took a dump on his bed. Yeah, his pic is next to winner in the dictionary.

Boston sucks the fat one. They didn't deserve Bill Russell.

Yeah, dropping a deuce in someone's bed is not very friendly.
