The prosecution did not, in the eyes of the jury, meet the burden of proof.

As you well know, it does not mean the defendant was necessarily truly innocent of the crimes he was accused of.

The desperate implication of LAPD somehow targeting OJ is insane because they didn't know if he had a solid alibi. Imagine if they'd "discovered" the blood of Nicole in his house and car--and he had a rock-solid alibi. It would be catastrophic for the LAPD. But of course OJ had no alibi at all--and as you could hear in his initial interrogation, he couldn't explain anything, let alone the nasty cut on his hand.
