President Joe Biden is taking his first major steps toward decriminalizing marijuana, fulfilling a campaign pledge to erase prior federal possession convictions and beginning the process of potentially loosening federal classification of the drug.
Biden on Thursday will pardon all prior federal offenses of simple marijuana possession, a move that senior administration officials said would affect thousands of Americans charged with that crime.

The big news is rescheduling weed off Schedule 1. That is gonna have huge ramifications for banking, security clearances, et all.

Absurdly overdue, and meaningless--unless you're doing a dime for possession. But this gesture will not stave off the cleansing of the house and senate. Come midterms, let us feel your sway and heft, let us breath again without the stench of Pelosi, Maxine Waters, and the Squad looming over the halls of power.

Not happening yet. He asked DOJ & H&HS to look into removing it from the Schedule 1 list of controlled substances.
It's a step in the right direction, but I wouldn't light up a blunt just yet.

Which means they will do it. That aspect is just a legal formality. Might take a year might only be months or weeks, but it’s a done deal. Unless there is a blue wave and Congress does it first.
