How the hell did I miss this? I don't recall seeing this in the news.
I was a huge Vikings fan as a kid.
Grant was absolute granite.
He'd take away heaters for his own players, and let the opposition have them.

If I'm a dim bulb, you're a bulb lacking a filament.
And fuck off BTW...

One of the more interesting things about Bud Grant's career is that he was a head coach in the CFL for 10 seasons before joining the Vikings.
He led the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to 4 CFL titles.

For a long time I had never realized that Prince's dedicated obsession with Purple was all based his Minneapolis upbringing in the heart of Vikings country. He really should have named an album "Bud Grant," or even changed his name to that of the great tragic loser--when doves cry indeed. Doves have nothing on Vikings fans when it comes to never being satisfied.
The "Purple Rain" songsmith told Twin Cities Fox affiliate KMSP-TV that he penned "Purple and Gold" after he saw the Vikings beat Dallas at the Metrodome in a playoff game last weekend. Prince told the station he hadn't seen the team play in years until this season, saying, "I saw the future."
"The future"? What, he saw Brett Farve throwing a rookie mistake pick in the final drive which could have gained a Super Bowl berth?

Honestly, I thought Bud Grant had been dead for years. Props for evading the reaper for 95 years Bud.
