Oh…Cali has no minimum age with parental consent whereas Alabama does (16). 18 in both states without parental input.

California: must have written consent from at least one parent of each underage person. At any age?! Jesus. Y’all are fucked up.

They both allow 18 year olds to marry. Alabama, with parental permission, allows 16 year olds. California, with parental approval, will allow any age apparently. That’s some fucked up hillbilly shit.

There is the added step that a judge must approve the application and that the minor must consent to the application.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a shit show. I had a client doin 15 to life for murdering her husband who had raped her and needed cover so he talked his neighbor judge into ok’ing it along with the parents who he was friends with (most people know their rapist) and viola he’s in the clear. She was like 15 at the time. Obviously she grew up and stopped the abuse (with a shot gun blast to the face if I remember correctly).
