Weekend Roll Call 6-24-23

Some Bonzo Jr. for ya.

The hottest and most humid day thus far of 2023
is on tap here in FOC today. There is no sugar
coating how bad it's going to suck with 12 hours
of grill work on tap preparing for next weekend.

Off topic- Friday is the Smackoff. Anyone planning
to listen?
Rome has really been pimping the shit out of it.
I MEAN REALLY! Like, half of the show yesterday
pimping. Virtually outright begging for old schoolers
to call, but admitting they likely won't. The Ditolla's,
Kerwin, Terrance, and Jim in Fall River mainly.
It was somewhat humorous, but also somewhat
pathetic. Oh well, I will give it a listen. If this year
goes like last year, and it is already being hyped as
such ..... Thursday, will be the better day to listen.
For those not following along, the day before the
Smackoff is now known as "dong day." Most of the
participants and some others call in with all of the
things that will get them run ..... primarily dick jokes.
My overall maturity level is still that of a 14 year old,
so I will enjoy the hell out of it.

Happy Weekend, Y'all.

Chip, little does she know these days you're considered "over the hill" when you're 50. Remember when "over the hill" was 40? It's all about how you feel and what you make of it. I wonder if "over the hill" will move up to 60 by the time I turn 50 in a few years.

I remember when I turned 30. My wife invited a bunch of friends to a downtown Denver billiards bar. Got seriously plastered. Afterwards wife and I stayed the night at a hotel so yes it was a very happy birthday. So happy that two weeks later she found out she's pregnant with our first son!

Hahaha, the "smack off." I haven't listened to that or The Jungle in probably 10 years. It was mostly because the Denver affiliate, which was one of his original 4, cancelled him in favor of Dan Patrick. But, he also did 2 straight (ha...straight) days on how Michael Sam was a hero to the NFL. Yeah, whatever. He's a pole smoker and he was trying to get the Jungle Karma to him. Worked out real well! :meds:

Yep, hot and humid in my part of "FOC" as well. My parents are visiting this weekend. No not from Denver. They moved out of that overpriced, Californicated libtard hell a couple months ago after selling their house for over $300k more than what it really should have been. But oh well!

They're in Davenport, IA now. Got a really super nice fully updated duplex/villa less than 10 minutes away from both my siblings and their kids. Just a 4 hour drive away from us so it's a lot easier for all.

Family get together at my Aunt's house later this afternoon. Swimming, pork steaks (a St. Louis thing), burgers, brats, etc. As my uncle always says when our family gets together "if you go home hungry, it's your own damn fault."

Later all.

I'm 30 miles south down I-25 now. Second straight weekend in the Rockies. Flew in yesterday and back out on Monday. Enjoy Colorado. They only place in the country that has similar weather to California in the summer. Warm during the day and cools off at night with low humidity.

If you get down by Co Springs hit Cheyenne Mt Zoo and Border burger in Manitou Springs. If you are heading west try Great Sand Dunes. So many great places in CO.

Yeah. I've spent the last 25 years spending my summers in the Rockies. I'm flying in and out this year due to increased production. You talked about liking Glenwood Springs. Head south a bit from there and hit a town called Carbondale. They have a nice moutain fair and a laid back atmosphere with one of the most beautiful mountains in the Rockies.

The worst part about living in Iowa is that you have to live in Iowa.

Yeah you can see that mountain on the way to Snowmass and Aspen. I looked it up, Mount Sopris. Absolutely epic part of the country.

Jsc810 wrote: Mon Jun 26, 2023 7:57 pm I'll also add here that I was in Denver over the weekend, and the altitude kicked my butt. I was dizzy, weak, and nauseated, at least for the first day. Makes me wonder what the NFL teams do to address that when teams play Denver there.
They try to keep their roster’s average age under 60.
