Jason Aldean Controversy

I don’t know anything about Jason Aldean or his music, but…
I’m trying to figure out how some new Aldean song about not putting up with crme is controversial, yet hiphop songs denigrating females and promoting gun violence are fine.
Just got this from a friend:

There’s a link in the story to the lyrics. If you’re interested in reading pure ignorance.

Yes Hip Hop has never had a controversy, in the same post where you note a hip hop controversy.
You are dumber than a post.
And the song is about vigilantes, so you didn’t get anything right in your post.
Are you still scared of dresses?

As Kierland said, the song encourages vigilantism. Then consider the video content:
The video shows BLM protests.
It does not show January 6th.
Who do you think that vigilantism is directed towards?
ETA:
Aldean chose to stand in front of a courthouse during the video.
One where a black man was lynched.
Was it stupidity or intentional that that particular courthouse was used?

So y’all are fine with hiphop videos/songs that glorify killing and gun violence?
That’s had zero negative effect on young blacks?

I basically said the opposite but his “Whataboutism” is so ingrained in him he can’t help it.

No one in here suggests that the slaughter of young blacks has been exacerbated by hiphop.

I don't listen to hip hop and I don't listen to Jason Aldean, so I guess I don't really GARA.
That being said, I probably wouldn't mind seeing him flattened by a runaway 18 wheeler. That would be cool.

And I will note that all the racist conservatives are claiming that it's unfair to criticize Aldean for doing a music video that tacitly implies that vigilantism in small towns against black protesters is acceptable while banning from the airways & boycotts of record sales is fine when a singer from a female band simply says 'we're ashamed that we're from the same state as George Bush.'

Pretty sure CMT has banned those videos, too.

I started the thread, yes. But I don’t listen to either hiphop or whatever kinda garbage Aldean produces.
However, I do question the outrage over Aldean’s song and the lack of outrage for violent hiphop lyrics.
In the end, though, I’m aligned with Mikey in that Aldean and purveyors of violent and misogynistic hiphop tuneage can all go to hell.

Again, for the stupid people, plenty of people bitch and moan about hip hop. That you have the audacity to even suggest different shows what a right wing cunt you really are, in spite of your protests to the contrary.

The lack of concern in here about young black men slaughtering one another is appalling. I don’t recall a single thread condemning the violence encouraged in hiphop/rap lyrics. Today’s left is uber-hypocritical.

A couple of days ago here a three year old kid killed his one year old sister with a gun left unsecured in his parents’ house. I’m pretty concerned about that.

We are plenty concerned. Dismantle the drug war and the for profit prison system, end all institutional racism and end capitalisms plunder of their resources then dismantle the pigs and start over with law enforcement. YOU are the one who isn’t concerned because you support no stances that would end the carnage.

Jason Aldean didn’t even write that song. It was written by four Nashville based songwriters who were working within the corporate Nashville system. The song got recorded and approved by the executives of his record company and was released by that company. They’re also the ones who made the video that promotes the song. Blame the record company, for being divisive and trying to divide people into small town and urban.

What's critical here - is it a good song? I have no idea. Maybe he's shite. Crying old women like you lot were shitting their pants when Elvis and Bill Haley were subverting society, didn't do any good.

Understanding Marxism
Marxism is both a social and political theory, and encompasses Marxist class conflict theory and Marxian economics. Generally, Marxism argues that capitalism as a form of economic and social reproduction is inherently flawed and will ultimately fail.

Found the lyric to the song in question:
[Verse 1]
Wiped the footprints off my dash
Tore up those sun-faded photographs
Threw 'em in the wind, ya'll can have it back
I'm outta here
I stuck my middle finger up in the sky
Flipped off that "ya'll come back" sign
Looked in the mirror one last time
And watched it disappear
[Chorus]
It ain't nothin' but a rearview town
Broken hearts and rusted plows
Roots ripped right up out of the ground
Never thought I'd ever leave it
It ain't nothin' what it used to be
Population minus me
On the other side of that dust cloud
Ain't nothin' but a rearview town

[Verse 2]
I could tough it out, but what's the use?
A place that small, it's hard to do
Too much of her to run into
And so much road to somewhere new
[Chorus]
It ain't nothin' but a rearview town
Broken hearts and rusted plows
Roots ripped right up out of the ground
Never thought I'd ever leave it
It ain't nothin' what it used to be
Population minus me
On the other side of that dust cloud
Ain't nothin' but a rearview town
[Bridge]
It ain't nothin' but yesterday
One less truck rollin' down Main
Ain't nothin' left to say
[Chorus]
It ain't nothin' what it used to be
Population minus me
On the other side of that dust cloud
Ain't nothin' but a rearview town
~~~~~~
Oh wait that is a different Jason Aldean song… from 2018.
I haven't heard the song but I found the lyrics mediocre. He's definitely promoting a message more than writing good music and the writing definitely suffers. Worst part for me was navigating the rhythm and rhyme scheme during this part:
These lines seemed a little out of place. Maybe it makes sense in context so I'll try to listen to the whole song when I get a chance.
