Hurricane Hillary, expected path.

We've never seen a hurricane, or even a tropical storm (which this is supposed to be by the time it gets here).

Mikey, as a kid in Mobile, I remember fleeing inland (to Selma) ahead of one big hurricane. We lived on an island, so we sere especially susceptible bto major damage. Luckily the main thrust missed our area.

Living further inland, a Category 4 like you guys are facing means incredible wind and sideways rain, power outages, and, worst of all,tornadoes spinning up. This won’t be fun if it hits land as a 4.

Supposed to hit land in Baja first. If it’s a little farther west it will hit colder water before landfall. Either scenario will sap a lot of its energy. The latest I heard is that it whichever path it takes it should be Tropical Storm, based on wind speeds, at worst and maybe not that. Biggest danger here is the heavy rain. They’re predicting around two inches where I live between Saturday afternoon and Monday morning. We had heavier rainfall last winter. Heaviest rain is supposed to be east of here on the eastern slopes of the mountains and in the desert. Like maybe five to ten inches? I told my yard about it and the plants seem pretty excited.

If it hits landfall in Baja and tracks a little to the east then Smackie might get slammed in Phoenix. He may be doing Tune Town tomorrow from a boat.

I’m thinking that may be the safest place. Unless there’s lightning.

Hurricane Kathleen hit in '76. There were a railroad track just west of Ocotillo visible from I-8 that looked like twisted Hot Wheels track.

I hear people are rushing to the stores buying bottled water. Probably toilet paper too. We have plenty of TP . I know that this has the potential to be a really big event but damn, people tend to overreact based on hype from the local news. I’ll probably empty my 5 gallon RO system into pitchers and whatever else I can find tomorrow and let it refill. Covered the Weber and the smoker, and the outdoor bar table. Gonna fill up the tank on the Santa Fe on the way home from a concert tonight, and make sure the EV is changed. Not sure what else I can do except hide under the bed, pray really hard, and hope the wind isn’t strong enough to take any of my solar panels to the land of Oz.

Pay close attention to local weather people on TV. You may not need to worry.

So far, we've only had some light to moderate rain. We're supposed to start getting the brunt of the storm starting about now, with 25 to 30 mph wind and stuff. But perfectly still right now with a little off and on rain. This is what the current radar looks like. Seems like they're maybe getting buttfucked in the mouth east of Santa Barbara. Our house is under the red X.

85, Muggy, Cloudy, Light Wind in SLO.

I hate that SoCal is getting blasted, but it sure is nice to not have to worry about a hurricane.

Atlantic is getting cranked up for a big season. Whoopee.

Very muggy here. Probably 78 deg. We were in the 90s a couple of weeks ago.

We'll be back to drought by next week. At least the reservoirs are mostly full.

Definitely getting some decent rain here now. It has been steady but light since about 7:00 AM but picked up significantly at about 4:00 PM. We got 0.4” between 4:00 and 5:00. No wind to speak of. I’ve heard of 2” in an hour in some areas and 70 mph winds in the mountains.

Free water---YAY---keeps the pool full and the plants green. Just as long as there is not too much of it.

Absolutely. My yard is loving it, and the pool is getting topped off. By Wednesday I should be able to go out and do some major weeding. I’ll be able to pull them out completely instead of just breaking them off at the ground, which is the usual summer mode around here.

western FL going to get it soon---- we'll get some rain and wind here in the Fort Myers area, the worst to our north.
I doubt if I will even close up my hurricane shutters for this.

Hilary was actually a little disappointing, TBH, at least in this neighborhood. Can’t say the same for Cathedral City though.
