Slumping hugetime. 7-0 vs the 'Jays in the 3rd. I've got it on and it sucks
Can they recover with Wells sucking, Schill out until after the all star break? Even when he does get back, is he as effective as he's been?
Offense leaving runners on base...WTF?
Never and I mean NEVER will I ever lose faith in this team, but I'm sick at how bad they've been playing! Taking nothing away from Toronto, because they've played Boston like a violin & beat them like a drum. Still...Man the Sox look like a friggin' college team right about now!

It was only 86 years brah. WTF?
Rent...he's an enigma. Great defense crappy bat. It's not good right now Card fan, but I believe he'll bust out after the all star break.
Is he really that sensitive to criticism? Dude best realize where he's playing.
Ahhh....the Rent experience. We'll see how it goes. I was sorry to see Cabrera go, but then again...Theo brought us a championship.

Chowd,
He who laughs last...
*****
Remember 1 month ago, noone could believe how bad the $300 million Yankees were sucking.. since then they have won 15 of 17.
The Sox can do the same thing...
Yes, without Schill and Foulke it will be near impossible but I will bet you that come September, the Sox will be playing for the Post Season!
As far as the Sox SS;
Rent a Wreck (errrh Renteria), he will likely come around and be a decent player, maybe not worth $10 million but better all around than the other 3 Shortstops
What if the Sox kept Nomar and paid him $15 million/yr for 4 years?
Nomar may not play this season, and will likely never play more than 1/2 of any season..
or if they kept Pokey Reese, he hasn't played this season due to an injured shoulder, he can field but could never hit!
Orlando Cabrera is a better defensive player but he is only hitting .228 this season.
So, relax, enjoy the ride....
This Memorial Day weekend should be decent with the Sox playing the Yankees, as long as the weather holds out!

There's no reason why the Sox can't turn it around. All it takes is a couple of pitchers to step it up and some good, consistent hitting from a couple players and the rest of the team will follow suit. Worked for the Yankees.

Or you could look at it in a "glass half empty" kind of way and say that the Red Sox are in 4th place in the AL East.

My Answer...
Youkilis!! Youkilis!! Youkilis!! Youkilis!!
The Sox Players on how they are doing...
DAMON -"We're a really bad team right now," Damon said. "We need to win tomorrow. It's a must win. We need to get back to that stage where every game is a must win instead of just saying 'Oh, we'll be OK.' It's a different year."
ORTIZ -"We're struggling all around," David Ortiz said. "We're not hitting, we're not playing good defense. Sometimes our pitching is not there."
WELLS & MILLAR - "Anyone see our shot glasses?"

What a retard. None of the posts in this thread, at any time, had any "Yankees suck" undercurrents. We were simply just discussing how the Sox are doing and what they could do to improve. In fact, we were using the Yankees' fine run as a reference point. Read before you post, man.
On a more sadistic note..... (source: MLB.com game recap)
Who would've thought that a Staples ad could have some truth, even in a hilariously mean way?

Starting pitching isn't their main concern right now. The Toronto series was an abberation for how well Clement/Arroyo et al have performed thus far. The bullpen?... now that's scary. Foulke and Embree haven't looked so hot this year.
chowd103 wrote:Offense leaving runners on base...WTF?
Now you're talking. Listening to
Dale and Holly rip Millar a new dimehole on the ride in and
Big O on the ride home fucking rules. Oh my God, do they rip him.... and Tito's willingness, thus far, to stick with him. Their offense is the main problem right now. Bellhorn is on pace to set a new strikeout record. Manny hasn't been clutch all year. Rent-A-Wreck's feelings have been hurt by the Boston fans and he flat out sucks. Not to mention he leads the league in errors. Their infield has 8 HR...
AS A TEAM. Your average 1B has 8 HRs by himself right now!!! Horrible.

He was referring to what you might hear... wait... what you
always hear at Fenway...
every game. Doesn't matter who they're playing. You'll hear it.

If Schilling is able to pitch as well as he stammers at other managers, he will suck. Someone needs to change that man's diaper. Surprised nobody in his life has told him "when you see a microphone, just rehash the cliches and get away unscathed. When you open your mouth, you look like a fool. Let 'thinking' to the thinkers."
Of course Renteria will come around. He may yet prove to be worth 6 million/year.
Theo got you a championship? $128 million can make anyone a believer in sabremetrics.
Sox still have a great chance with the Yankees struggles and the Orioles faltering.

Schilling says what is on his mind. He holds nothing back. Seriously, Bace, what would you rather hear:
"We gotta keep it together as a team, just go out there and give it 100% and good things will happen. We got a great bunch of guys in this clubhouse... everyone goes through their ups and downs... we just got scratch, claw...." ---> SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!!!!!!!
or
"Tony LaRussa is a fucking idiot who needs to keep his mouth shut and worry about his own shit team... who we fucking swept last year, btw. Choke on my bloody sock again... 'Genius'. The Cardinals are our eternal bitches."
RACK Schilling for saying what everyone else is thinking, but are too afraid to say.

What is it that Tony said that aroused Schilling so? IIRC, Tony said that he worried about Renteria because he shied away from the spotlight while in St. Louis. For all the all-star games, gold gloves and silver sluggers he won while he was here, there might have been one media piece on the guy. His manager and his teammates repeatedly said that he didn't like public speaking mainly because his was unsure of his English. Doesn't sound reasonable to me, but players who did not toe the party line said that with the spanish speaking players on the team, he was a cornerstone.
Of course, Schilling found great offense in all this. I'm guessing Schilling hasn't been spending a ton of time speaking with Renteria, what with Renteria speaking broken English and Schilling busy with his feud-of-the-month. What does Schilling, a guy paying distant attention for two months, know more about Renteria than Tony, a man who paid close attention for 5 years?
1tnacU wrote:"Tony LaRussa is a fucking idiot who needs to keep his mouth shut and worry about his own shit team...
He was asked a question. He answered honestly. As a former manager of the guy and surely close associate he answered. I respect Tony's opinion an awful lot because his words are calculated and direct. Schilling got his blowhard panties in a bunch, prayed hard to Jesus and through God learned that again calling into a sports radio show to vent was the answer.
"who we fucking swept last year, btw. Choke on my bloody sock again... 'Genius'. The Cardinals are our eternal bitches."
... and here you don't exactly do anything to further your point. "Eternal?" So the Sox were our eternal bitchs considering 46 and 64, but 04 revisits the term "eternal?"
Nigga, please.

What was everyone else thinking? That Lou Pinella knows less about baseball than Curt Schilling? That Tony LaRussa knows less about baseball than Curt Schilling?
Nigga, please.

8-3 in their last 11 is hardly faltering. 3-7 in the last 10 for the Sox is what you call faltering.
Just sayin'.

Offense came alive today. Clement was fearless. C3P Olerud looked like he may have had a 5 O'clock shadow. Nice AB's.
Ucan't...I am in FL. Maybe heading up there in Oct. Beers on me.

The Orioles are just running into the pitching buzzsaw known as the Detroit Tigers!
Believe it or not, the Tigers have a team ERA of 3.79...9th in the majors and they're tied for 9th with the Angels in opponent's batting average. Unfortunately, they're 20th in run support. If only they win those one-run games.
The O's weren't going to keep this up all year and the White Sox lead in the Central has dwindled to just 3.5 games over the Twins (see sig). The cream will rise to the top in the end as it always does.
