Divac and Petrovic - Once Brothers

Y’all need to watch ‘Once Brothers’ on Netflix, about Vlade Divac and Drazen Petrovic.
Sad. They were teammates on the Yugoslav national team and best buds when their country fell apart. War in Yugoslavia destroyed their friendship. It’s just a minor side note to that terrible conflict, but it illustrates just how stupid humans can be when we allow religious differences and/or ethnic differences to dominate our thinking. It reminded me of that period and reading about neighbors who had been good friends turning on one another and killing each other. Sorta like the way we’ve become in this country…allowing political differences to push friends apart.
I’ve always said I’d never lose a friend over politics. Yet I’ve had a couple friends who have allowed our differences to strain our relationship. I hate it and I try to joke and laugh about it, but, like in here, those variations in thinking can be very detrimental to our getting along.
My nature is to be the diplomat and to try to maintain friendships. I hate seeing people so polarized and partisan. I enjoy a good discussion…even a good argument. But not at the cost of a good friend.
Alas, this board is a great barometer of where we are as a nation now. And that’s not good.
