45 years ago today, Lowell George died of heart failure. He was best known as a founding member of Little Feat.

Before that, he was a member of Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention.

One of his better known tracks:

If you'd like more, download the album Waiting for Columbus for starters.

Willin' is reportedly the song that got him 86'ed from the Mothers due to its drug use advocacy. Zappa wasn't down with drugs although he supposedly liked the song but felt there was "no place for it in the Mothers' set" and suggested George split to form his own band. So Little Feat was born.

Already had it in the queue for tunight's show.
