Blind copy

Post by Bobby42 »

Email for business purposes is the standard, it is convenient, but loaded with pitfalls. There’s very limited use for bcc, a message copy sent to an additional recipient, without the primary recipient being made aware. [added just for you]

The only legitimate use is mass emailing when you do not want to expose the email address of others on the list. Other than that, bcc is a deceptive practice, and it is a trust killer. And it feeds into office politics. Like a freak'n secret society.

"The memo you sent to me is just for me. Right?"
"So let it be written; so let it be done."

Most often used to cover one's ass, or used be someone with no balls to set some one up or undermine them.

Only time I use it is to avoid exposing others’ email addresses. They probably don’t GARA, but just in case.

Tried to. Let the person know I trusted them less.

Everything blows up when the hidden recipient acknowledges receipt.

My iPhone automatically Bcc’s to me on outgoing mail, which is fine because emails sent from my phone don’t show up in the “sent mail” folder on my desktop Outlook.
