If you're not doing it now...

Post by Bobby42 »

If you're not doing it now, you'll probably won’t be doing it later. Seize the day, get off your ass and get started.

So much of the time we're waiting for the big opportunity. It's about: “I’m going to do this” or “I’m going to travel” or otherwise waiting for that special moment when you can finally have some fun. Don’t wait. Do it now! Don’t wait on anyone else.

You’re not going to feel any better than you are right now. Feel good and do all the things you want to do, what you plan on doing. Now.
Go forth! Kick back. Enjoy.

This. And speaking of "getting started quit bitching and excuseing"

5 seconds, one hour.

When the gift of intuition hits, to do something you know is right, you have about 5 seconds to either act on it or let it slip away.

Set your alarm for one hour. When it goes off look back on how you just used this hour of your fucking life and know you wasted it, or used it.

Have a plan. Turn off the TV and video feeds. Or maybe do in an hour.

Wish I could live up to that but it's my aim.

I will add that you should do it while you still have the physical capacity to do so. At one point, I was a 3x marathon finisher, 3x half Ironman finisher, had completed an ultramarathon, and was trying to build up to a full Ironman.

While running around the LSU lakes, I felt a pain in my hip, I thought that I had a stress fracture in my hip. About a month later, I was partially paralyzed and could not move my right leg.

Three back surgeries later, I can walk. Sometimes I have to use a cane, but I can walk. Running and biking are out of the question.

I still have my Ironman dream though. In the fairly near future, I will retire, and then I'll go for an Ironman relay, with me doing the swim. Definitely will be something for soon after retirement, my clock is running short.

I made it to 85. Prostate cancer and it is spreading. Had a couple falls, walk with a cane, a walker at night. My pipe dream for years was to do a thru-hike of the AT. I did some section hiking back in healthier times. I realize my road is short, but still glad to be on the good side of the grass.

85 is a damn good run, Wolfie, but don’t give up. Lots of new treatments and meds.

Hang in there.
