In Harris, the average American saw a candidate who finished sentences and didn't look like a fossil, so it is pretty much a win for the Dims.

Donald did what Donald has always done in a debate.

Neither of them will have been perceived to have cr@pped the bed, so it is a draw from that perspective.

However, Scamala was less well known than Dump, and she did not shoot herself in the foot, so it is an overall gain for the Dims tonight, imo.


As for the larger race, Donald is the "It's gonna be doom and gloom" candidate, and Harris is the "hope and change" candidate.

Optimism and hope generally sells better, and it will fool a lot of people.
That said, a whole lot of Americans are struggling financially now, and if they stop to think about it, why is this lady, whose party has been in control for 3+ years, acting as if she and her party are not responsible for the dark economic times now?
How is it that she is trying to sell me that she is the "change" candidate to lead things forward?

Muir didn't even bother growing a pair tonight until he "fact checked" Dump on another lie. Two lies out of 1,000. Those are some pretty solid Dump odds there.

It was, in hindsight, not Prez Trump's best night also because he allowed himself to be trolled into playing small ball vis-a-vis the same old tropes his adversaries like to revisit. He ended up directing his focus entirely on those in the room instead of beaming his message to the wider audience.

We need a POTUS who isn't.

This. His fighter instinct is a liability in this setting. All he had to do was calmly make his 4 years in office vs. the biden/harris term the focus and keep returning to that. He was found liable for sexual assault. Civil court vs criminal court, and yes, I expect a prosecutor to respect that distinction.
