50-50 club a lonely place

My fanaticism for professional sports in Los Angeles has waned somewhat for various reasons but that's another thread. However, Shohei Ohtani had an incredible night last night while in the process of being the first player in baseball history to reach the 50 hr / 50 sb in a season. Normally I expect a level of hype (marketing) but this guy is treating that baseball and those pitching it like Tiger to a golf ball in his prime.

Too bad he's a compulsive gambler.

Doesn’t speak English, and probably eats dogs and cats.

The smart move is to keep him off the pitching mound but you don't pay a guy a Billion unless he's playing both sides of the ball.

Only in the modern game.
No way he reaches these milestones prior to 2000.
He would have worn one on his ass during his 4th at bat
on Thursday. One in his ear during his 5th at bat, and would
have never seen the 6th chance.

New rules make stealing bases a lot easier too.

Yep. Some of those pitches he saw resembled T-ball....like they wanted to be a part of history...ala Al Downing.

The safety conscious era we're in won't allow the unwritten rules of the past, but scoring runs keeps people in the seats.

Giving up historic hits is overrated.
