I remember him from the Amerika tv miniseries way back in the day. He was a bit meh as an actor but great songwriter.

What an awesome bio. Besides the huge recording and movie accomplishments he excelled in many other areas. Here are a few

His early writing included prize-winning essays, and "The Rock" and "Gone Are the Days" were published in The Atlantic Monthly.

Kristofferson graduated in 1958 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, in literature. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa his junior year.

In 1958, Kristofferson was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to the University of Oxford, studying at Merton College.

Kristofferson, under pressure from his family, joined the U.S. Army and was commissioned as a second lieutenant, attaining the rank of captain. He became a helicopter pilot after receiving flight training at Fort Rucker, Alabama. He also completed Ranger School.

Kristofferson was given an assignment to teach English literature at West Point.

As HPG would say, nails.

"I imagined myself into a pretty full life," Kristofferson told NPR's Fresh Air in 1999. "I was certainly not equipped, by God, to be a football player, but I got to be one. And I got to be a Ranger, and a paratrooper, and a helicopter pilot, you know, and a boxer, and a lot of things that I don't think I was built to do. I just imagined 'em."

Nope, he DID them.

RIP

True Renaissance Man.

Wait til the Trumpers find out he was a Democrat.

Too funny.

He was a talented artist. Surprised he was still alive.

The time Kris Kristofferson consoled Sinead O'Connor after she was booed mercilessly for telling the truth on SNL in 1992.

It costs nothing to be a decent human being.
