Good luck, dockworkers...

You're gonna win a lot of friends.
Daggett, who has the broad shoulders of a former dockworker and a raspy voice that comes from years of shouting at labor rallies, is now throwing himself behind an effort to win a historic increase in pay and an effort to get dockworkers around the world behind his goal of halting automation in its tracks and establishing longshore labor as a formidable partner in global trade.
77% increase in today's economy and wanting to prohibit innovation...
Maybe get rid of cranes and forklifts too?

Reminds me of Harley riders saying that they chose their bike because they wanted to have an American-made bike...

No shit. Thank you. My Honda VTX was more American than a Harley. Built in Maryville, Ohio. Harleys are chock full of Japanese parts and have been for years.

I haven't paid too much attention to HD in recent years, but I think they're giving more business to the Chinese these days.

This strategy seems somewhat contradictory. Best of luck, chap.

I don’t own a Harley. I ride a bicycle.
I don’t purchase much of anything aside from food.
A lot of the food I buy is produced locally.
I don’t want a crippling strike. But if it happens, I doubt it will cripple me much at all. I’m not much of a consumer of anything that isn’t brewed or distilled or grown or raised or otherwise produced here.

Toto bidet. Don’t need it. From one asshole to another, you should consider upgrading.

Been using one for a few years now. Always trying to stay ahead of the curve you know. It’s why I don’t like to travel anymore.
You still need a little TP to complete the task, though, unless you want to sit there with the dryer on.
TMI?

They’re much better. Still inferior, though.

Yeah he can fight the coming [all ready here] automation like he can change the tides.
If he really cares about "his men" he needs to think education, training, and start leaning into the impending changes. The future will see him as a dead guy with a buggy whip clenched in his hands and a busted union, or the guy who saved the union.
Adapt, migrate, or die.

So, you’re saying that the dock workers should follow the same advice Biden gave to coal miners: Learn to code?

Before there were actual electronic computers, there were humans who were actually referred to as Computers who crunched the numbers by hand.
Before there were automatic telephone switches, an actual human had to connect calls.
Why should these strikers have some exalted status?
Why should they get paid a wage above inflation where everyone else in the real world gets their annual 2-3% raise.
Unions are anachronisms.
Fuck off Terry Malloy wannabes.

You might be amazed (or you might not be) by how many T1B posts have been made while sitting on a Toto.

I contribute to the total from time to time. And I'm with you in terms of planning my day around access to my bidet. No away games unless something has gone very, very seriously wrong down there.

Dockworkers end strike, get a ~65% raise. Good for them. Suck on that, Seer.

Great optics when much of the east coast just got smashed by a hurricane.
You're a fucking idiot, but that isn't any great revelation.

Not really, negotiations were deferred till after the election. I'll wager the President told them he'd order them back to work if they didn't. Save your TP till January, gents.
