Chrissy has died.

Legendary American tennis player.
One of the all-time great female players.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Evert

Chris Evert made her U.S. Open debut at age 16.
She turned pro at 18.
She was ranked #1 for 260 weeks.
Evert had a legendary rivalry with M. Navratilova -- the steady baseliner vs. the serve & volley attacker.

Young Evert had some of the best legs women's tennis has seen.

She did not fight Jim Rome.

I will drop this video here, because it is from the Evert era.
SM might enjoy this.

1976 US Open.
The Open was played on Har-Tru (clay).

Wild, wild match.
Ilie Nastase was off the chain.
Nasty was a heavy favorite to win this match, but he found himself in a major battle.
H. Pohmann was cramping, and Nastase was losing his sh!t.

Especially watch the 2nd half of the video, and the end.

Ummm…you might want to re-read the article you linked.

This isn’t April 1 is it?

Ooops.

Thanks, Mikey.

I'm not paying attention.

Sorry, Chrissy!

Oh well, enjoy the match anyway, SM!

I’ll have to say that the wording of the headline was a little confusing if you’re not paying attention.

Yeah, I'll blame multitasking -- and old age.

I knew that in recent times Evert (and M. Navratilova, btw) has been battling cancer.

I thought today was *dooms*day for her.

Not yet.

What happened? I saw that the guy in blue won, but then they started booing him. What happened?

Man, watching that video was like watching tennis on the original Atari.

Nastase was a wild man of tennis in his era.

He was heavily favored, and did not like the fact that he was in a tussle.

Pohmann was repeatedly cramping in the 3rd set, and Nastase thought Pohmann should have been forced to retire because of time violation.

Even though he won, Nastase wanted to fight Pohmann at the end of the match.

Basically, Nastase made a total @ss of himself.

I believe that Evert has rung the bell, and Navratilova might have as well.

Both have one term remaining and if there were still democratic primaries, many of us in the 14th district of NY would vote for these very giving and generous men. Add them both to Mount Rushmore.

Also noted that both had/have vice presidents who were destined to be presidential material in landslide kind of ways!!
