AOC and my entire 14th district of NY are rooting for the Yankees (to implement more racial equality and equity on its roster).

The announcer Joe Davis was just saying like "every kid who ever played baseball grows up dreaming of a moment like this. Bottom of the 10th, 2 outs, bases loaded. Your team trails by 1. Yankees-Dodgers, World Series. And this is reality for Freddie Freeman right now"
Right before an injury-hobbled Freeman crushed the first pitch into the stands for a come-from behind, extra innings, walk-off Grand Slam to win a game in the World Series.

Watching the game tonight. No score after one inning. Based on the information the TV commentators have given (at least 27 times so far) Freddie Freeman hit the first walk-off grand slam in World Series history.
How come I didn’t already know that?

I miss the old days when the pitchers had to bat at the National League park.
Aaron Judge is essentially carrying on this wonderful tradition in spirit <sigh>.

I've definitely had worse.
Moonbeam's daughter is the Dodgers' Director of International Partnerships, and almost immediately after LA clinched the pennant against the Mets, mama got a text from Moonbeam saying she'd be at both Games 1 & 2 of the WS. I asked her if her daughter might be able to scare up an extra ticket, fully expecting the answer to be no. But she was able to get me one at her cost, about 1/4 of face value. Many of the fans sitting in that area appeared to have made a lot of plastic surgeons rich, and you could almost smell the silicone wafting in the air.
Being there for the pre-game Fernando tribute was pretty cool.
Stanton's HR was a moonshot, appeared to be higher than the foul pole when it passed it. Had a nearly straight-on view of it leaving the bat. Epic blast.
But not nearly as epic as Freddie's. I knew it was game over as soon as he hit it. Just crushed it, and it had that sound. Most fun I've had at a ballgame. Witnessing that kind of history as a lifelong Dodger fan doesn't suck. Now they gotta finish the job.

I actually like a lot of the Dodgers players. I just hate the Dodgers, as I'm sure you can understand.
Betts seems like a decent guy, as does Edman who has been a standout this postseason. He went to the same HS (a small private school in La Jolla) as my step-daughter. When Freeman was still playing for the Braves in 2021 and the All Star Game was at Coors Field, Freeman introduced is little son to Fernando Tatis, Jr., who was the kid's favorite player. It was a very cool moment and Freeman seems like a genuinely classy player. The grand slam couldn't have happened to a better guy.
They are kind of known for coming late and leaving early, at least during the regular season.
They were all just trying to make the USC game on time at the Coliseum. We all know how dedicated LA sports fans are

Besides Game 1 of the WS, there was a Lakers game, a USC football game, a high school championship football game, and a David Gilmour concert that night. Newscasts in LA were calling the expected traffic nightmare “carmageddon,” but I didn’t see anything much worse than usual LA traffic.
Yeah, I thought it was pretty ambitious when I first heard of it. Pretty cool if they can make it work but I’m guessing it won’t be smooth.

It worked pretty well in 1984 without the "car free" mandate. They got a lot of businesses to stagger working hours and deliveries and, from what I heard, the traffic was better than before the games. A bit more congestion now, though. If they can get a few more people to get used to using public transit (and if they provide decent service) it might actually help things in the long run.

Ohtani should be in jail, or at least suspended for life. But the Dodgers and MLB have too much $$$ invested for that ever to happen.
Seems to be a recurrent theme/solution for your adversaries....
