I haven't forgotten this dipshit, and I am just an old fan. No Chiefs players
went on the record, as they never do with this kind of shit, but local press
has made us well aware that the players have memories and have kept receipts.
If that wasn't enough, all Chiefs players and fans also remember the embarrassing
performance last year at xmas.
The current spread has the Chiefs -9.5 You would be safe taking the Chiefs at -20.
Bet the mortgage and college funds on this one. Kermit and his Mahomies will be
making an example out of the duh's in Arrowhead West, as we are now 106 days
away from the 3pete.
MIZZOU is gonna take an asswhoopin from Bama today and I really don't care to say
anymore on the issue. Lots of grill biz today, and the 14 day finally shows the first
real glimpse of fall heading our way.
No yam bashing today. I may have a thing or two to share next Saturday though ;)
Election Day is only 9 days away and already 35-50 million have already voted.
MOW
Been a minute since I bagged on the hilarity of the religion mind fuck.
Seriously. A degree in mythology. It’s like the opposite of a social worker.
Total dumpster fire of shame, blame, lies, secrets, smoke, mirrors, pretension
and patriarchy. The indoctrination and brainwashing of children as future revenue
generators.
Happy Weekend, Y'all.

IN. NCAA football looking towards "bowling". If Syracuse goes to one near me, I'm in. Have a good one all.

Early voting continues thru Tuesday, Python come to State Archives, lots of parking and our lines here move quickly. The line as of now:
We've been told that a Special Session of the Legislature will convene the day after the election. So much for having things slow down a bit.
Not much to report for this week, it just has been long hours working the early voting and that's what is happening again today. Well, this is worth saying again:
Never trust a fart.
Y'all have a good one.

Not sure if I have ever mentioned this here before, but I fucking detest fall.
#1. I very much dislike cold weather. I actually don't mind it if it is snowing, but for the most part, I can't stand it. To me, fall is the appetizer leading up to the long, cold winter. Further, it causes me to have much less free time on my hands, which leads me to #2.
#2. I'm about to go outside and pick up leaves for much of the late morning and afternoon. Picking up leaves takes up almost all of my free time. This free time includes weekends, after work M-F, and many times during the lunches I take (home office). It just sucks. It's not just once that I have to go out and clear the leaves. It's almost daily because if you fall behind and let too many leaves build on the lawn... you're fucked.
So today, I'll be out on the acre that is populated with many, mature Norway Maples picking up leaves while I should be watching CFB or doing whatever the fuck else I want to be doing.
Squat on a dick, Fall.

Around here, fall is planting season for native plants. In the past I’ve found that sometimes if I wait too long to get going the nurseries run out of stock. So I ordered a few in advance and they all came this week. I think I may have overdone it though because I have about 50 1-gallon plants waiting to be placed in their new homes. Should keep me busy for a while.

Meyer lemon is in full bloom. A nice thing about these lemons is they they often produce fruit two or even three times a year. So I’m almost never out of Meyer lemons.

I'm sad for kcdave, who has entirely the wrong idea about "religion" and is not a better person for it.
I'm sad for Ken, who doesn't like Fall. I freaking LOVE Fall. I used to feel about Spring the way Ken feels about Fall, except for me, it was when I lived in SoCal and Spring just meant heat, no more possibility of rain, more heat, etc. It was eating up my soul. The PNW is so much nicer and I love Fall AND Spring! So beautiful!
I'm jealous of Mikey and his lemon tree. I grew up with a lemon tree in SoCal, and I get really bitter every time I'm at the grocery store BUYING lemons. We used to give them away by the bag, so they would all have a chance to get used.
I'm missing my eldest child, who is in Coronado for the second time in less than a month. Last time, it was an open-water swim. This time, it's a training trip. He's having the BEST time. I'm not really okay with him being all independent and flying hither and yon. Proud and excited, but not okay. In less than a month, he AND my daughter will be off again, but to CHICAGO. I can't deal with this.
I'm looking forward to the election being over. I miss the good old days when people kept their ridiculous political opinions to themselves. Nowadays, it seems like EVERYONE thinks he's an expert, and maybe .01% actually are. But they have their media that tells them what to think, and they hate the side that doesn't agree with them, and they feel okay about it because only really really bad people would disagree with them. Tolerance and whatnot. Let's talk about sports, it's way more fun.
The Dodgers are making me REALLY happy right now! So there is that.

Is he training at Colorado Springs?
He’s not quite there yet, though both kids did get to train there at different times last season, just for the experience. Because their team does cool stuff. He’s in Coronado (San Diego).

I took LV +10.
Didn't bet the mortgage on it -- just one 3BB pick.

Waaaayy back when I was a kid & on the swim team the team in Coronado was named Coronado Navy Swim Association & was coached by an Olympic gold medalist (Mike Troy) & was one of the best in the county.

If you live here and can't grow citrus successfully then you're not trying. There are some times when we don't have any lemons on the tree (actually two trees), and it does seem ridiculous to buy thick-skinned, almost juiceless lemons at the store for $0.50 or $1.00 apiece.
We have a navel orange and a Minneola tangelo that were here when we moved in 25 years ago and are still going strong, so we get to have fresh orange juice almost every morning for a few months in the springtime. I planted a Rio Red grapefruit tree a few weeks ago and just ordered a Satsuma mandarin, a Tango mandarin and a "cocktail" semi-dwarf grapefruit. We shouldn't have any problem getting enough vitamin C down the road. The local food bank is always ready to take any over-production.

That's really cool. According to my kids, it's an amazing facility! This weekend, my son is being coached by a former Olympic medalist (whose daughter just became an Olympic medalist in Paris). The kids are four to a room, and one of his roommates is a member of the USA National Jr. Team. Such an AMAZING experience for him, and so motivating. What were your best events? My son is Fly/Free, with distance free and 200 fly being his best events. He's also really good at mid-distance and can sprint when he wants to. My daughter's big event is backstroke. She also LOVED open water swimming, even in Coronado last month (finished 5th with a medal in her age group). My son loved it in Hawaii, did NOT love it in Coronado. The boys 5K race was apparently a bunch of kids swimming on top of each other for a full MILE of the race. In Hawaii, he got out in front early. In Coronado, he couldn't get out of the pack.

It's great that your kids are so into swimming. It's an activity that they can continue long after they're out of school and stay in shape. My older sister and younger brother were competitive swimmers. My brother also played H2O polo at the HS, Junior Olympic and college levels. But he burned out on the whole thing after years of early morning and afternoon workouts 52 weeks during the year. My sister kept competing in her age group, including open water, into her 60s. I used to do a lot of laps but was never competitive. I hope your kids keep it up. Sounds like they're having a great time.

I got curious & looked up the team online & found out that they dropped the Navy part of their name, but are still located at the same pool on Strand Way. IIRC that pool was always a little on the cold side (76º or 77º). I looked at the pool just now with the satellite view & noticed that the smaller pool next to the main pool has been changed to what appears to be a therapy pool; that used to be a diving well.
I'd be curious to know the name of your son's coach to see if it was anyone whose name I would recognize from following the top swimmers when I swam myself.
I can relate to the swimming on top of each other from my La Jolla Rough Water races, although generally the pack thinned out after a couple hundred yards. While my best events in the pool were 50 free/100 fly, I also loved open water competitions (I won my age group in one race held during Del Mar Days, and another in a swim around the Oceanside Pier). I was all prepared to do a national championship long distance event (10 miles from Seal Beach to Manhattan Beach), but lack of transportation put an end to that chance just before that weekend (too young to drive).

I really love that they do it, as you may have noticed by how much I talk about it. It's consuming, but it's so much fun to watch them (and they have fun doing it)! I have seen some kids get fully burned out by the demanding schedule (my teens don't know what sleeping in during the summer is like). My son is just such a student of the sport in general, he's planning to swim in college and then be a swim coach alongside whatever else he does with his life, which is leaning toward either physical therapy or some other health science related to sports fitness. Our big job now is finding the right school. He's a junior, the NCAA is changing things up and screwing the small sports in a big way, so we'll see what happens. It's definitely a lifetime sport! Super cool about your sister swimming open water into her 60s!

I'm pretty sure they were training this weekend at a place called BBMAC. My son is super sensitive to cold water, and did okay, so I'm thinking it was not so cold. The coach this weekend was David Berkoff (Katharine Berkoff is his daughter).
The race my kids did last month was the USA Swimming Western Zone Open Water Champs, which has qualifying times. Pretty much no one was doing that race just for fun. :) My kids' coach said he's never seen anything like my son's race, where an entire lap (almost a mile) was a crazy pack of giant boys. My son said, "that's enough open water." He vastly prefers having his own lane in a nice, clean pool. :) My daughter, on the other hand, might want to do it again next year (she did a 2.5K this year and wants to do the 5K). Neither of my kids are small, but my daughter is relatively much taller than other girls, so maybe her size gave her an advantage in the pack.
