The Math Does Not Add Up Correctly

Post by kcdave »

Any of you trumper genius' want to explain how the
math will be working with some of the things the right
wingers have planned?

1. Tariffs as high as 100% on imported goods. This is supposedly
going to bring home jobs.

a) bringing home jobs will not happen over night.

b) increased costs from tariffs of imported goods will raise prices,
that will affect the economy, and raise inflation.

c) increased costs to build factories and pay higher American wages
will affect the economy, and raise inflation.

2. Deport up to 1,000,000 illegals.

a) Homan- the new czar told 60 minutes a few weeks back, that
his plan could cost up to $88 billion per year.

b) Unemployment is pretty low now ... 4.1% Americans do not
want to work the jobs that most illegals take, and damn sure
not for the wages they pay. Paying Americans good wages to do
those jobs affects the economy, and raises inflation.

c) We don't have enough workers that want to work the number
of lower paying entry level jobs that we currently have. We damn sure
won't when removing 1,000,000 illegals.

d) Who would be working all of the jobs that would be coming
back to the states?

"American Made," used to mean, great quality, long lasting.
In some cases it still does .... but in every single case now
it stands for "EXPENSIVE." The average factory worker isn't getting
out bed for less than $30 per hour. Oh, it's a union you job eh,
then it's $40 per hour.

Someone help me out with this ciphering.

Most of the agricultural workers in CA are illegals. Don’t expect too many of those hard working MAGAs to step up and fill in. Same with a lot of meat and poultry processing in the Midwest and South.

It will be interesting to see what happens when California stops feeding the other 49 states. And you think grocery prices are high now?

But wait, you’ll see. It will all be worthwhile in 10 or 15 years when they stop poisoning our American blood and eating our pets.

I can help you with the deportation questions. Millions of people illegally crossed our southern border because they were encouraged and/or welcomed to do so by the current administration's policies. Hopefully, those policies are going to change. I anticipate that there will be a higher interdiction rate at the border. This will discourage further unlawful crossings. I also anticipate that persons and organizations who harbor and/or employ persons who illegally crossed our border will find themselves in legal and financial jeopardy through the enforcement of existing laws. This should encourage a significant number of the millions who crossed our border illegally to reconsider their decision and self-deport through reverse migration (i.e., walk their asses back from whence they came). To the extent that there are jobs that cannot be filled by citizens, we have existing laws and programs that allow temporary entry into the country for such purposes. What you should expect is that the existing laws will actually be enforced. I doubt there will be any new laws. We really do not need them. We only need to enforce the laws that already exist. And if you are a person who wishes to enter the country lawfully, I anticipate this will be a great time to do so.

I don't have time to explain tariffs to you. All I will say is that they are not applied like a sledgehammer. They are applied like a scalpel. And they are adjustable to achieve measurable goals. They can be lifted when the other side complies with demands. Over time, the use of tariffs should encourage US manufacturing and production, which reduces the dependence on foreign sources of goods. But there are some goods that should be made overseas (because they are better at it than us or have geographic advantages etc.). If you really want an education regarding how tariffs should be implemented, listen to Elon Musk riffing about it with Joe Rogan. Again, you can clutch your pearls if you want to. But what will actually happen is, as usual, nothing like the expectations you allow your programmers to install in your brain.

Mikey asked me about Trump's economic policies vs Kamala's and I gave a detailed answer in This Thread. He completely ghosted the thread after I posted for some strange reason. Totally lost interest in the topic, I guess 🤷‍♂️

You all don’t apparently believe that Trump will actually do much of the stuff that he said he would do. So, what’s the point? The time for arguing is over. I’ll just wait for the results.

How did you come up with that take? Trump said he is going to enforce immigration laws, which means deportation of millions of illegals. I expect that to occur.

Trump said he would use tariffs as an economic development too. I expect that to occur.

I'd really like to see where he said "economic development tool." That's two four syllable words in a row. That kind of effort would most likely reduce him to unintelligible gibberish for the next 20 minutes at least.

Trump has promised 10% to 20% across the board, 60% on China and 25% to 200% on Mexico. As far as I know, he hasn't made any demands known. This sounds more like a sledgehammer than a scalpel to me. HPG denied that they would be across the board and claimed that they are just a bargaining tool. Maybe you're right. Maybe Trump was exaggerating (or lying), but that's not what he said, and not what most of his constituency is expecting. I wouldn't trust that guy with any sharp objects anyway.

Do you deny that these tariffs will result in increased inflation? Do you really think that they will be paid by the exporting countries? Seriously?

Are you saying that the 10 million who were already here in 2021 (at the end of Trump's first administration) are safe? Or are they also the result of the current administration's policies?

And how does that add up? Those jobs will now be vacant. How many? 10 million or so? How many of those do you realistically expect to be filled by "citizens?" Maybe 50? So you're just going to go ahead and allow all the illegals who were deported back in if they fill out the right paperwork? Please explain how this works. I know you're in Florida, but I didn't realize that you had moved to Fantasyland.

If you all want to tank California's agriculture industry, especially the field crops in the Salinas Valley and permanent crops in the Central Valley, by deporting most of the workers, that's no skin off of my ass. We have plenty of local production here in San Diego, and it would go a long way toward solving our water shortage problems. But you all, especially in flyover country, might have a hard time finding any fresh produce unless you want to pay the 100% tariff to buy it from Mexico. You can't live on field corn and soybeans.

88 seems to think that there are enough "citizens" available to fill those jobs.

Ok, yeah. You're that stupid.
Now there's an intelligent retort. Pretty much right up to expectations.
Since you're stupid, I'll dumb it down for you. 80% of Mexico's imports go to the United States. Who do you think is going to blink first?
Apparently you don’t know the difference between imports and exports. Why are we even having this discussion?

looking down the end of my road---being so short, I don't give a rats ass about the financial
politics. It's the crime coming across the southern border that I have concern for, seeing my offspring and their families are not harmed in any way.

I see a lot of finger pointing and name calling.
I do not see anyone explaining how losing a million
or more illegals that are willing to perform medial
work for low pay, will not create a large spike in
pay, or worse, the jobs not being performed at all.
Also, anyone that believes 100% tariffs will not increase
the price we pay, is simply lying to themselves.

You have a hell of a lot more crimes being committed
in this country by citizens than the illegals. Most of your
illegals live on the DL. Poorly educated, dirt poor, broke
ass American's should be much more of a concern to you.

I’m not naming names but it seems like there’s one certain poster whose “participation” seems often to lead to that degeneration.

mvscunt seems to have disappeared from this thread. I wonder why that might be.

Mikey, don’t make assumptions about Pedokkkal’s distractions.

He could be sniffing after neighborhood children, as is his predilection.

True.

But then, maybe he’s a beta male. We should ask Sven Goofy.
He would know.
