Weekend Roll Call 1-11-25
Never heard of these weirdos before this week,
but they can jam a little.
A snow free weekend here in FOC after picking up about
13 inches from 2 different storms this week.
Enough already. I am ready for spring just as soon as we
complete the NFL season. Wild card weekend is here.
I thought about breaking down each game, offering up
picks and all that bullshit, but I don't have the time, nor
the energy, and we all know most of my picks have sucked
ass this year. I do plan to watch most of every game, and
hope for some compelling matchups. It will be interesting
to see if the fires are any factor in the games with the LA
teams. Can they put all of it out of their heads and
prevail? I think not. I can see both of them losing.
The 2 games with the highest spreads are also intriguing.
Pitt at Bmore, Den at Buff. 3 games in 11 days was simply
to much for Pitt and they shit the bed, but they can beat the
Ravens as they already have once this year. Lamar is famous
for shitting the bed in the playoffs. Denver is fucking tough.
They are a much better team than they are getting painted as
with the 8.5 spread, and will present a problem for Buffalo.
Meanwhile, KC sits at home, relaxing, and awaiting to find out
who they will play next. SB59/3peat is only 29 days away.
In t1b news, Screwy made a return to the forum.
Like him or not, he has shit to say and is not shy about
speaking up. That is always good for the board.
Another guy that should prove to be good for the board
just dropped his first post yesterday in the death pool
thread. HighHard1 seems to have finally found his way
here. I look forward to reminding him or what a
fucktard trumper he is. I'm sure he will enjoy reminding
me about my "nicely landscaped yard, your opulence,
your grills."
MoW
Not really a meme, but it's all I have this week.
This is a real pic straight from fb of a friend of
a friend. I have no idea why chubber is on the
horse, but judging from her attire, I would tend
to guess this is something she does regularly.
Poor horse.
Happy weekend, y'all.

3 funerals this weekend. Three!! This is what happens when you’re ancient. Ate dinner with old buds last night. Tales of living in China and many high school and college memories were shared. Gonna be a tough weekend, though.

IN---I hear you S Sam---had an old college pal pass away , so sad from dementia of all things. At 85, I expect more bros I cash out.
Younger son visiting for a few days. Will be good to see him. So I may be missing Tune Town tonight if it's on.

Damn, Sam. One funeral is sad enough, but three? Hang in there.
Still thinking about that defensive play last night, scoop and score. That's one of the all time best plays I've ever seen at any level of football, just amazing. Props to both teams who will play for the championship, they both have earned their way there, looking forward to that game.
And I'm also looking forward to surgery soon. It is nice to have a good diagnosis and plan to fix things. Routine preop tests next week, should get date set for surgery soon.
Somehow found this Jason guy who does card tricks. Here is just one example, he has many more on his youtube channel. Check this out.
Hopefully will be a slow weekend. Hopefully this cold weather will go away. It has only gotten to the low 30s here, I don't see how y'all folks handle the really cold weather. Y'all have a good one.

Starting on Tuesday we’re getting all of our windows replaced, along with two sliding glass doors and the double front door. So now we have to move all furniture at least three feet in front of every window. This is already killing me. When you move some tall bookcases that haven’t moved for 15 years you first have to empty them. Then when you move them you find 15 years worth of spider webs and nests, cat hair and who knows what else. So now you have to clean all the floors, including rolling up a bunch of rugs to take outside and try to clean. Also disconnecting and moving a lot of electronics and office equipment.
And, of course, there are lots of decisions to make like what color to paint the trim, and picking new window coverings, which of course we will now need. I’ve learned that my main participation in the long conversations about this stuff is to appear engaged and say “yes I think that would be perfect”, repeated for each new iteration of changing “our” mind. But not so often or in a tone that seems at all condescending.
On top of that I somehow fucked up my knee. Had x-rays and an MRI. Apparently a torn meniscus, mild arthritis and something called a subcondral insufficiency fracture are making it very difficult to get around. Appointment with ortho in a couple of weeks. In meantime I’m living on ibuprofen and edibles and wearing a brace that doesn’t seem to do much good. Don’t expect to see me around here much for the next few days.

Ah. Looks like I'm not the only one who will have a date in the OR soon. Turn skin, and many other body parts, will heal itself. But a torn meniscus won't.
This getting old thing ain't easy.

So that set you back what? An arm, a leg, a kidney and your first born? You might as well pick up one of these as long as you're hemorrhaging cash.

Jesus dude.
I'll pray for you. And wind.
I don't miss home ownership at all.
Re: Weekend Roll Call 1-11-25
Yeah, it’s about that much. The old ones are original (36 years) with metal frames and no low-e glass. Dual pane but a lot of the seals are compromised and they get condensation inside. Sliding door hardware doesn’t work and I’ve had to drill a hole in the frame to shove a pin through for a lock. Many of the screens are worn out and replacements usually fall apart in a couple of years. So yeah, it’s time.mvscal wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2025 9:33 pmSo that set you back what? Matter of fact I’m searching around for an electric pump (120v or 240 v) that could be used for fire protection. Not sure they exist. I bought a 5 HP Honda after the fires here in 2007. Never used it and got tired of maintaining it, so it’s been gone for a couple years. I’ve gotten rid of all my gas powered tools (mower, hedge trimmers, string trimmer, chain saws, etc) and replaced with battery power. Most of them work better than gas, but battery isn’t practical for a pump. It’s nice not to have to deal with gas or two cycle oil. We have a concrete roof, stucco walls and pretty good defensible space but 35,000 gallons of water in the back yard could still come in handy. I have a 20 kWh storage battery so I can still run 120/240 in an outage.
