Weekend Roll Call 1-18-25

Post by kcdave »

In case you missed anything this season .....

FOC - 50 yesterday, windchills below 0 today.
Pool and a little grill biz early.
Most of the weekend will be centered around
watching the games. I'm picking wins by all the
home teams, but history tells us this only happens
once every 5 years or so. Bmore is actually favored
at Buff by a pube, so, they have a good look at
coming to Arrowhead next week. The Rams are
looking tough, and Philly looks prime for a collapse.
Redskins were a nice little story, but I really don't give
them a chance tonight.

Chiefs game, right out of the gate though.
Will the 24 days of rest for KC's starters be the
best thing ever, or make for a rusty, poor start?
I think they will be fine. The team is healthier
now, than I have ever seen for a playoff run.
I have been checking all the gambling sites...
looking for the over/under on Spiller crying like a
whiney little cunt again.
22 days until the 3peat.

Rack. Geaux Tigers!

Normally, it does not snow in Baton Rouge. However:

Things shut down here. We're not designed for such cold weather. Water pipes will freeze, snow and ice will get on trees and power lines and cause them to break, so we'll have power outages, we don't know how to drive so there will be wrecks everywhere, and so on. A frozen clusterfuck. So today I'll do what I can to prepare our house. Which won't be much, just cover a few water faucets and unplug the fountains. Love this new house we're in. At our old house, the people who bought it are going to freeze their ass off because you just can't get it warm when it gets that cold, plus there will be lots of frozen pipes. Here, we just set the temp and we're comfortable. Also glad that we have a home generator, if the power goes out, we'll still be good here.

Had my preop tests on Thursday and got the green light to go. Now just waiting on an actual surgery date from the urologist. I hope it is next week, we'll see.

Can someone please explain the traffic here? I just looked in the college basketball forum, it said that I and seven guests were there. Seven. No way seven of you were there. So were those bots? If so, why?

I see Dave is still under the delusion that there will be a 3peat in the NFL. I'm staying with Detroit. Of course that is just my prediction. Who I want to win are the Saints, but I'll have to wait until next year for that.

Last night the wife and I were talking about the traveling that we're doing this year. Argentina, Cabo, Yucatán, and probably some in the U.S. as well. Definitely more traveling than normal and I'm looking forward to it.

The little dogs are letting me know that they are ready to go on their walk so I'm off to do that. Y'all have a good one.

We're going to be hard-pressed to reach 60° today.

I blame Gavin Newsom and the desert lesbians.

Kind of sounds like us just two states north of you. But we handle it just slightly better. Got 8 inches (some areas pushed 1 foot) almost two weeks ago and there are still many streets that have not been plowed. Funny, and why I don't see this as a shocker, but those happen to be the neighborhoods and municipalities with the highest balck population. All those streets are just ice rinks because of the thawing and refreezing. Everywhere else was plowed and was completely cleared in 3-4 days. Can't throw any "white privilege" as an excuse! It's because those balck-run municipalities just like to keep things as fugged up as possible!

Most school districts got almost all of last week off! They were supposed to come back from Christmas break on the 6th, but ended up going back on the 13th!

Gonna be a refreeze for us starting tomorrow. Only supposed to be in the teens and 20s for highs for the next several days. Don't need to worry about frozen pipes either, Chip!

That was the biggest snowstorm to hit this area in 6 years. Our typical snow-falls are under 5 inches and they only happen once or twice usually in January and February. We may be the "midwest" here in STL but we sure as hell aren't like the upper-Midwest!

I'll just enjoy the fire in the fireplace and do some binge-watching or a movie.

FUUK the NFL.

We’re supposed to get wind chill temps around 0 on Monday morning. If we get ice and snow and power lines go down, pipes will be bursting all over the place.

“But our power lines are underground.” Well the power has to get here somehow and if lines snap, we got no power. Thus no heat. Therefore busted pipes.

I wish builders would spend a little extra and insulate pipes. I think we’re okay as long as we don’t lose power. I wrapped even the Pex in the attic several years ago when things froze on us. No problems since then. I have to hope the builder insulated pipes on outside walls (why have a toilet back up to an outside wall?)…I’m not ripping out sheetrock to find out.

Pray for us southerners. We ain’t prepared for this shit.
