Is today special for ancient folks?

Somebody explain what’s going on…

At the Chinese place in Ozark this morning, the owner/lady insisted I not pay for my tea.

Just now, coming home from Dothan, we stopped for gas at Love’s in Ozark. I go into Arbys to get a tea. Pull my wallet out and the girl smiles and says, “You’re good.” What? “I’ve got it”, she says grinning.

I look down to see if my zipper’s down or I’m wearing my underwear outside my pants. What the heck is going on?!

Why are you drinking so much tea?

You must look like you need help.

We checked out of our hotel in Los Angeles this morning using the Hilton app so we could bypass the front desk. At home a couple of hours later I opened up the receipt online and there was a $35 “minibar” charge. We didn’t use anything from the minibar, though we did have a few cups from the Nespresso machine (two of the capsules didn’t even work). So I sent them a text asking about the charge and they told me that minibar charges are determined by sensors in the drawer and they don’t know if you put back something that you took out. I had picked up a box of cashews and put it back and they were charging me $35? 😳 They did take it off the bill right away but, damn, talk about special treatment for ancient folks. Most people probably don’t bother to check.

Mikey nailed it.

No, that’s my weakness. I drink tea constantly.

As far as looking like I need help, no one can believe I’m 70. Not to brag, but I’m doing really well for my age. No gut, decent overall shape. Shit, I don’t know what’s up today.

I’m tempted to stop once more and see what happens.

All the reasons why you should swap your coffee for green tea

A study has found that green-tea drinkers have a lower risk of dementia, but it has more to offer than just cognitive benefits

It appears, unfortunately, to be too late for Sam some of us.

You got that right!

I’m into dementia-inducing black tea. Sweet iced tea only way to go!

You're probably wearing a Cal Bear T shirt. It gives you special powers.

Couldn’t disagree more. Sweet tea has no tea taste, just sugar. Unsweetened is the only way to go.

I also don’t really understand those who put sugar and cream in coffee. I don’t drink coffee because I don’t care for the taste. Loading it up with cream and sugar certainly masks the taste, but then it isn’t coffee.

I also feel badly for you guys that can’t seem to function with a coffee each morning. I am typing this post from an American Airlines flight from Minneapolis to Dallas. My seat opponent was talking to someone saying how they had to get to the airport early so they could be sure to have time to get thru the coffee line at the airport. I always smile and chuckle as I walk/drive past coffee locations and there are 30 people in line.

I heard this from "Uncle Ben," (not a family member, but family friend) when at a cafe he owned in White Salmon, WA. Uncle Ben lived several lives-was part of dam building on the Columbia River from Grand Coulee to the The Dalles Dam. He once exclaimed to his morning crowd as he was pouring coffee, "I like my coffee like my women, hot and black." Funny what you remember when you're a 7 y/o. My family lives in fear that I'll say that to some poor barista at a coffee stand when ordering my standard black while they get their foofoo silly ass shit to drink.

Although I agree with LS that most sweet tea is nothing but sugar, I love the sweet tea I make at home. Sometimes I use monk fruit sweetener, sometimes sugar. But I don’t make it as gooey sweet as restaurants and fast food shitholes make it. That’s just sugar water. I like to taste the tea.

I don’t drink coffee at all.

Still wondering what prompted two free teas yesterday. I was dressed well, neatly coiffed, nice hat. Clean. Not carrying all my belongings in Walmart bags. I wasn’t pushing a grocery cart.

I think it was just my disarming charm.

Were you driving a pickup with a goose neck trailer? Works for a certain upper Midwesterner with the 17 y/o honeys at the local diner.

Nope, but you may have hit on something. We weren’t in my truck. Very rarely do I choose to take my wife’s vehicle, but I needed to drive it and check it out. It’s one of what I consider the most effeminate looking vehicles around…the last generation of Pilot before the recent redesign. So each of the tea givers saw me pull up in that pussmobile and with two women in tow. One of whom is zombied out on depression meds and not moving her arms (Seinfeld reference). They probably felt the least they could do was provide me with liquid nourishment.

Southerners pretty much live on sweet tea.

I must compliment them on their understanding of basic chemistry.

They figured out a long time ago that sugar melts a little better in hot tea than it does in a glass full of tea and ice.

Too bad this knowledge doesn’t extend to diabetes causes.

Get off my lawn rock landscape!

And to HELL with Microsoft and their update from 2/1....Made wordpad obsolete and replaced it with notepad.

Updates suck.
