Absolutely disgusting tripe...

Katie Couric: "You literally have the wight of the world on your shoulders."

Kofi Annan: "I do, but not everybody understands that."

--Conversation at the end of a Katie Couric-Kofi Annan interview on Today this morning. I missed the beginning, and am grateful.

Pathetic. I haven't seen such shilling and groveling in a while...

Can't stand Larry King.

Also, according to Katie, Kofi's sons were merely alleged to have been involved in the Oil-for-Food scheme.

Sheesh...

Saw her interview Peggy Lipton for 10 minutes the other night. Had to turn it off it was so disgusting.

The network is trying hard to resurrect Katies media darling status by giving her all these softball and high profile interviews. Because of her bad attitude with co workers, hopping from rich guy to rich guy, changing her looks and acting all snooty, her popularity plummeted, (something called a "Q" rating) but they're paying her Jason Giambi type money so they toss her garbage like this.

The Today show is nothing more than a chance for cross promotion of other GE products and subsidiares. Don't expect any real journalisim.

No shit. The Today show isn't exactly 'Meet the Press'. It's just infortainment.

I never watch morning TV except to change it to the digital music channels, but one thing I've never understood are the morning commute traffic reports. If you're home you don't need em, if you're driving you can't see em, and unless you're new on the job you know damn well what the traffic will be on the way to work, not to mention there is this thing call radio traffic reports.

Gives you an indication of how lacking morning content is when they have to include commuter traffic reports for the shutins.

Dipshit...it's nice to get an update on your way out the door, especially for major accidents or events that might get in your way.

Props for the local shows giving you traffic and weather every ten minutes. You don't have to watch the other crap because you're always within a few minutes of another report...on your way out the door.

RACK em!

What?

Oh, you meant bit from a BLOG.

But seriously, anybody who can stand to watch morning shows like Today probably also cared who won Survivor or American Idol.

Who waits around through all of that empty tripe to see the 3 times an hour generic traffic reports that at least one local radio station in major cities does every 6 to 8 minutes?

Oh and I bet there are just legions of people watching this crap at 8:45 am prior to their 9 to 5 work commute.

waste of time.

Did you even read my post or what??

And it doesn't matter if legions of people are watching it or not. Drift much?

One of my locals does it every ten minutes on the two's. Hence, as I am walking out the door at 7:25, I turn on the tube, catch the weather and traffic, then hit the door.

It's useless info for most people who commute regularly on the same roads. If you aren't leaving early enough to miss the traffic and don't tune into the radio reports in the house before you go or as soon as you hit the driveway, you are probably stupid enough to watch TV thorugh the interview with the lady who makes apple pies in the likenesses of former presidents, and like it.

Besides, who in hell needs a commuter traffic report at 8:45 am? If you're not on the road by then you either live close enough that it doesn't matter or you are not employed.

Additionally, the TV traffic reports are usually delayed so you can end up going the long way to avoid an accident that has already or is already being cleared.

Radio, because they update their traffic so often is the most reliable way to go. The traffic on Sirius radio is far and away the best I have ever seen though. Since the freeways I take aren't right in the middle of the LA/Long Beach nightmare, a lot of the time even terrestrial radio doesn't provide very accurate traffic for my area. Sirius traffic gets EVERYTHING though. They even mention accidents on major streets in the major LA metropolitan area.
