Empty words, empty gestures...

is what the Senate's apology for not passing anti-lynching laws several decades ago.

Two things:

1) Those anti-lynching laws were held up by filibusters. It was just in the past few months that the Democrats were extolling the institutional virtue and glorious past of the filibuster. I wonder why this "apology" was not pursued at the same time Democrats were proclaiming that glorious past?

2) You cannot apologize for something for which you bear no responsibility.

Meanwhile, just last week we saw the Democratic leadership attempting to blame the GOP for not getting other real work done during the filibustering (that the Democrats pursued).

Well I don't mind the apologies. But I do think the apologies should also be directed to the American people at large.

Lastly, I think the DNC needs to issue an apology for continuing to exploit, divide, and attempts to ensure no unity can ever grow among Americans. It's indicative of how the slave owners used to "divide and conquor" and this practice really needs to stop. That their lust for power is so intense they would stoop to these racist methods is disturbing.
