As you can see, memory and CPU speed don't make any difference. This game is all about the graphics card.

I have a Nvidia GeForce FX 5950 Ultra in this rig right now. It runs the demo pretty well but I like to maximize the detail. I'm going to go get a ATI Radeon X850 XT today - Best Buy has it for $399 w/rebate (normally a $500 card).

That's not surprising, although I think their tests may be flawed. I'm getting much better results with my Radeon 9800 Pro than they got. But an upgrade is in my near future anyway.

Are you getting a new motherboard to go with that card?

No. I'm sticking with my mobo for this go around. I built this puppy with state of the art shit about a year ago, prior to PCI-Express being on the market. I don't need to upgrade anything else. I just want some more horsepower with the GPU. I'd like to go to PCI-Express and the GPUs that use it but it's not necessary right now.

So your buying a PCI-E card and you have no PCI-E slots on your mobo.

Let me know how that works out for ya'.

My bad. There's an AGP version.

I think you'd be just as happy running that game on a 6600 GT OC for alot less money.

I played with an Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 and had no issues however I am going to upgrade b/c a lot of future games are requiring better GCs.

The game itself was a lot of fun. I crashed the planes every time I took off but I took out a few black hawks with the tanks. That was a lot of fun. How does the VOIP work?

I've really been disappointed in NVidia the last couple of years. Worries me that Sony has enlisted them for the PS3. I know they did a good job with the Xbox but their comp components have been more disappointing.

I was pissed 'cause NVIDIA drivers are always a pain to add to my Linux installs, but they're getting better all the time.
Their hardware stands up to ATI anyday, though.
