Nice Textbook Answer BTH. How about about a follow up question?
Can Capitalism survive in a communist state? Is the BA going to allow the hostile takeover of Unocal/chevron for the sake of International trade?

Capitalism and democracy are not the same thing.
Atomicdad, capitalism cannot survive in a communist because the concept of private property does not exist in a communist state.
And so what if China buys Unocal? Oil is a global commodity. If we don't buy oil directly from a Chinese-owned Unocal, then we will buy that same oil from the firm that Unocal sells it to.
