MANHATTAN, Kan. -- A former Kansas State offensive lineman was charged with stealing autographed baseballs bearing the signatures of such New York Yankees greats as Mickey Mantle and Joe DiMaggio from coach Bill Snyder's home.

Chris Boggas, 23, was arrested Wednesday. He remained in jail Thursday, on $10,000 bond for a felony theft charge, and was scheduled to make his first court appearance Friday.

Riley County Police Lt. Tim Hegarty said the six baseballs stolen from Snyder's home were signed by Mantle, DiMaggio, Whitey Ford, Paul O'Neill, Phil Rizzuto and Yogi Berra.

Police officials were unsure of the value of the baseballs, which have not been recovered.

The baseballs were allegedly stolen early Wednesday morning from a party hosted by Snyder's daughter.

Snyder was out of town at the time, and sports information director Garry Bowman said the coach would have no comment because the investigation was ongoing.

Boggas played six games as a backup in 2002 and 2003. He quit the team before his senior season, when he was expected to start.

Niiiice. Dude gives you a scholarship and in return you quit the team prior to your senior season and then steal valuable collectibles from his house during a party thrown by his daughter.

He gets a big f-you!

I bet it really chaps his even further that all the asst. he has had become HCs after being under him and yet none of them give him hardly any credit and all but come out in the media and call him an asshole.

I remember when this kid was being recruited and he acted like a fool then. He would stand coaches up and if he did show up it was normally a few hours late. All that talent and a .10 cent head.

Even if his ex-assistants do think he's tool you still gotta give Wild Bill his props..He turned a lump of shit program into gold..well maybe not gold..Copper or tungsten maybe.

KSU was a joke when Snyder took over, he may be an asshole but the dude can coach. KSU will likely go crap when he's done because they have done very little keep up with the Joneses in terms of facilities and the fanbase still isn't very good.

Kansas City is just a short drive from Manhatten and we out number them 2 to 1 every time we have seen them there.

My seats are right next to the visiting fans section in the SW endzone, and it's like You say. Most of them are pretty decent, but the pricks are in your face insufferable.
