The only way Crosby goes to Detroit is if the Leafs schedule takes him there!

Gotta wonder...a little scritty/BP/SCB karma from above?

Good for Pittsburgh...they now have a young duo to build around for the future.

Nash/Zherdev
Datsyuk/Zetterberg
Heatley/Kovalchuk

and now...

Crosby/Malkin

Neither guy has played a game but they'll have two super rookies on display this fall. I feel bad for Ovechkin...the #1 pick last year will get less attention with the hype surrounding Crosby.

pittsburgh and their owners can now await the bidders.

with crosby, the teams value has skyrocketed. add in the young players and the young phenom goalie!

christ, the fans of pittsburgh don;t deserve the team, but somebody does.

So does this mean Rat Pack can go back to being a Penguins fan again? :?

Rat Pack and al?_incognito must hold some World records in bandwagon jumping.

I don't remember rat pack ever liking the Pens.

He liked Washington and Dallas. I'm sure he had a good cry when Crosby went to Pittsburgh.

With 3 potential superstars in the making you would have to think that thr Pens will draw well for years to come and eventually get their new arena in Pittsburgh.

I agree...with the new CBA and the future addition of Crosby, the Penguins can be taken off life support.

not if the new salary basement is higher than what they could afford to pay before.

did every team in 03/04 had a team salary of over 35 million?

I believe the basement is $21 million. They might be able to get by with a low payroll for now since they have a lot of guys on their first pro contracts. I believe the new entry level maximum is less than a million dollars. The Pens will have Crosby and Malkin under contract for a few years and they will only cost them $2 million combined.

Right now, the Pens have only 7 guys under contract for just under $6 million...which includes Recchi and it doesn't include Fleury. Throw in Crosby and Malkin...they'll have 9 guys for about $8 million and Fleury probably isn't making more than a $1 million. Mario won't overpay himself to stay on board so they could have 11 guys under contract for somewhere between $11 and $14 million. I think the Pens can go out and try to add another scoring forward...like a Kovalev or Palffy for $4 or 5 million.

The excitement surrounding the team will get fans to the arena and to the fact they have two of the biggest names in the sport on their team means they could do well in merchandising. Imagine how many people will sport a #87 or #9 Crosby jersey around the Steel City? I think as long as Crosby is half of what everyone is expecting him to be, they'll have a player to build around for the next decade. The Pens may be scratching by for a couple years but they get their new arena and Crosby becomes one of the biggest stars in the league, they'll be a big deal again.

Just gave the Rough Riders a rough ride. We'll make the playoffs, but will be hard pressed to make it out of the west.

The Gades should make the playoffs, but our special teams suck ass and our offense isn't a whole lot better. The East is up for grabs this year.

Much like Damon Allen, Danny Mac should have retired after last season.

But at least Damon still has something left in the tank... thanks to a strong supporting offensive staff in front of him.

Didn't Rat Pack like the Penguins because Jagr played for them at the time?

He hated Jagr until he signed with the capitals.
