So is Manny outta Beanstown?
You think Sox are stupid enough to trade him? I think it's slightly possible. All this GM stuff looks like no brainers to fans but it's hard I guess for the actual GMs. He wants to go to a smaller market so don't trade him to NY. Trade him to AZ, SF, Cincy, Mil, Col, TB, or KC.
If I were the Giants I'd want him for possible a few more home team splash shots and for a lesser need of Barry to return quickly. In exchange could give up Tomko and/or Alou and prospects.
If I were AZ I'd want him for added punch to try and catch the Padres and fend off LA. In exchange Sox would get Luis Gonzales and/or Javier and prospects.
If I were Cincy it be a steal by sending the Sox Austin Kearns and Ryan Freel plus a prospect for Manny, who with a healthy Griffey and a resigned and keep slugging like hell Adam Dunn would make a stellar outfield.
If I was Mil of course you'd take him if he'd come, give up Carlos Lee or Geoff Jenkins plus Durrington or Hall and prospects would be alright.
If I were Col trade Helton and Miles and outfielder and pitching prospect for Manny, Millar, and Bronson Arroyo.
If I were TB just do deal in stone right now Bayes and Huff and add Lugo or prospects for Manny alone and you got a shot to not be in the cellar next yr.
If I were KC again whatever they want to get manny for chance not to be in cellar next yr.
Sea could trade Ibanez, Winn and Moyer for Manny and Arroyo possibly.
just my opinions.

For one, that would be a terrible trade for the Red Sox and two, Winn was just traded to the Giants...just announced on Baseball Tonight a few minutes ago. I'll give you credit, J...you made it through an entire post without plugging one of your TV or movie appearances or posting a picture of a naked anorexic 19 year old.
The way I see it, you can't trade someone of his ability without getting equal talent in return. You don't trade away the leading RBI guy in the league for a light hitting outfielder and an aging starting pitcher. They oughta get involved in the Soriano sweepstakes and work on a megadeal with the Mets and Rangers. Ramirez can go to New York, Soriano and Dellucci to Boston and the Rangers can get Cameron, Bellhorn and Arroyo. The Sox can pick up Guardado in a seperate deal and move Schilling back into the rotation.

I agree and according to Jayson Stark the Devil Rays wanted Hanley Ramirez AND Jon Lester, from the Red Sox, included in the deal. That is fricking hilarious. I would not want to give up either of those guys, never mind both of them. The Devil Rays GM must have been high when he proposed that.Shoalzie wrote:jtr wrote:Sea could trade Ibanez, Winn and Moyer for Manny and Arroyo possibly.

His contract was up at the end of the year but the Brewers signed him to an extension before the season...they aren't going to move him for anything. If he didn't get that new deal, he would probably be the biggest name available around the trade deadline.
I guess you can't blame the Devil Rays for trying to get as much as they could. However the Red Sox would have been crazy to do that.Toddowen wrote:The Devil Rays GM must have been high when he proposed that.
No.
The D-Rays GM realized that Manny is high and might be able to Shanghai him out of Beantown for a song sung by a player to be named later.
The only thing Mang Ramirez actually wants is to be in the same dugout as Pedro.

If I were the devil rays GM I'd trade Huff and Bayes and whomever else needed to Rockies for Helton and Miles. I did so in MLB 2006 and a starting lineup of Crawford, Baldelli, Lugo, Helton, Miles, Bautista, Gonzalez, Gomes, and Hall was solid in helping the Devil Rays in the game win the World Series.
