i read on another board that apparently he became very ill last year and is on medication. i didn't see the show, nor do i know anything about it. but that's what someone posted after somebody suggested he was drunk. and another posted agreed with the illness/meds thing.

and Digger Phelps has already got the drunk studio analyst thing staked out as his turf. Plus, didn't Gottfried coach at Kansas inna day? I mean, coaching football at KU might leave some serious scorched earth in one's psyche.

Yeah, he was at KU.... in the mid- 80's as I recall.

When the show started I was looking forward to get some insight from Gottfried early on.

Dude was toast!

If the illness thing was the reason, bad PR move to put him on the air under the conditions. His speech was slurred and you could tell the brain wasn't fully engaged. (Save the smartass comments.)

Now I know what the wife means when I try to reason with her on those very late Saturday nites. Best to nod your head and smile.

If it was a medical reason then open mouth and shove foot right in...

if he hit the bottle hard before the show then all bets are off...

He had a mild stroke last year which is cause for the slurred speach.
